Louis Vuitton Introduces Hot New Tambour Damier Graphite Race

The Damier pattern is synonymous with Louis Vuitton. It was the man himself who designed this checkered pattern, which already decorated the trunks and suitcases the company made in the late 1800s. It most certainly stood the test of time, as it is today not only still in production but also in high demand as one of Louis Vuitton's signature patterns. It is also the source of inspiration for two new Tambour watches that come with a sportive twist.

Piaget Launches Limelight Gala With Automatic Movement

With their Limelight Gala collection does Piaget offer elegant watches to modern-day women. With a unique, asymmetrical design, inspired by the brand's creations of the 1960s, they have placed the watches above fashion, making it seamlessly fit in with many styles and occasions. While Piaget offers this watch in a wide variety of different versions, one thing was always the same; its movement. While a quartz movement provides a certain convenience, many women do prefer a mechanical movement. That is why Piaget is now offering the Limelight Gala, also with their manufacture caliber 501P.

Richard Mille Takes A Leap Into The Future With The New RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph

An important moment in the history of Richard Mille, as with the RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph, they launch the brands' first chronograph with it made entirely in its workshops in the Swiss town of Les Breuleux. It is a technical masterpiece that comes with quite a few novel features. While it does feature a traditional column wheel, it lacks a vertical clutch. Instead, it uses two oscillating pinions to transfer power to the chronograph. This comes with considerable advantages. One of them is that even when the chronograph runs, it has hardly a negative effect on the overall power reserve. Secondly, does this construction also require much less space. The height of the RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph can, therefore, be kept under 12mm, at a very impressive 11.68mm.

Watch of the Week: Richard Mille RM 35-02 Rafael Nadal

When you work with some of the world's most accomplished athletes, you can count on it that they will take your watches through their paces. For Richard Mille, this is exactly how he likes it, as it challenges him time after time again to take things to the next level. Nadal, who won 19 Grand Slam Singles titles, wears his Richard Mille also on the court. This means that the RM 35-02 not only needs to be very light but also very strong.

Watch of the Week: Rolex Yacht-Master 42

When it comes to Rolex's sports watches, the focus is often on their famed Daytona, GMT-Master, Explorer of Submariner, rather than the Yacht-Master. Even today can the Yacht-Master be considered a new kid on the block, as this model wasn't introduced until 1992 and doesn't have such a long history as the other Rolex sports models mentioned. Some refer to it as the Submariner's casual sibling, and there is some truth to this. While visually, it has some similarities, there are also differences. The 60-minute graduated bezel is bidirectional, and Yacht-Master is 'only' waterproof to 100 meters. In effect, this makes it the perfect watch for people who enjoy all kinds of water sports but don't scuba dive.

Richard Mille Launches A New Material In A New Watch

A new model by Richard Mille is always exciting but gets even more impressive when the brand makes it in entirely new material. Grey Cermet, as it is called, is as light as titanium and yet almost as hard as a diamond. It took Richard Mille, working closely together with the IMI Group, years to develop this material. It consists of a metallic zirconium matrix with ceramic inserted in it. As these are very different elements, combining them in a single material was particularly challenging. Especially since the use of nickel and cobalt, often used to combine these materials in a homogeneous matter, was not an option as they wanted to conform themselves to the REACH Standards. This ensures safety in production and the use of chemicals in the European industry.

The Grande Seconde Quantième added to that a date indicator, which Jaquet Droz incorporated in the design in such a way that it adds even more charisma. A tempting watch was the result, but with a diameter of 43mm, also a watch that was rather generous in size.

A Revolution At Lange & Söhne With A Rubber Strap For The Odysseus

Last year Lange & Söhne surprised us by introducing the Odysseus, not only the brand's first sports watch, but also their first regular-production timepiece in stainless steel. On the dial, it combined a large date with a day-indicator as well, while a subdial for the seconds gave the watch a touch of vintage flair. These ingredients haven't changed for the latest addition to the collection, apart from the fact that it is now crafted from white gold, features a new color dial, and comes on a rubber strap.

Watch of the Week: IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar

If there is one complication that, especially in recent years, has become very popular, it is the annual calendar. This is also for good reasons, as it offers nearly all the benefits of a perpetual calendar, with the only exception that you have to adjust the date at the end of February manually. As a result, an annual calendar doesn't have to know when it is a leap year, making it less complex to make, and therefore, it can also be offered at a lower price. While there are now many annual calendars on the market, one of the most beautiful is still the IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar.
