An inside look into all of the precious timepieces being housed inside the Watches of Switzerland Airstream in the Hamptons this summer.

While there are no global watch fairs this year, it is still traditionally the time for many brands to introduce their models. One of the brands that is not deviating from this is Omega, which delights us to a wide variety of new models, including many in the Seamaster collection.

Today we celebrate International Women's Day, in which we not only honor women's achievements but also raise awareness for women's equality. The theme set for this year is 'Choose To Challenge,' as a challenged world is an alert world, and what you challenge will change. This change is also direly needed, as the world is currently facing challenges for which we can only find constructive, long-term solutions if everybody's full potential is utilized, and that can only be reached are equals. Here are four watches that might, each in their own way, facilitate this change.

As the official timekeeper of the America's Cup has Omega created a tradition of celebrating each edition of this prestigious ocean race with a special watch. The 36th America's Cup is, fortunately, no exception to this rule. With the Seamaster Diver 300M America's Cup Chronograph, the brand delivers a formidable watch that combines dynamic looks with technical innovations.

British singer-songwriter Zayn Malik, who now goes mostly by just Zayn, is best known as part of One Direction. After leaving the group in 2015, he began to pursue a highly successful solo career. His third studio album, Nobody Is Listening, is due coming out on January 15th. Zayn refers to it as "his most personal project to date." This also becomes clear from the already released songs 'Better' and 'Vibez.' The latter comes with a very artistic and soulful music video in which there is also a prominent role next to Zayn for the Omega Constellation on his wrist.

Omega's Speedmaster counts as one of the watches that set the gold standard when it comes to chronographs. With the new generation of this iconic watch, you can take this quite literally, as Omega not only launched it in stainless steel but also in two colors gold. This is quite unique, as the Speedmaster Professional hasn't been available in gold since 2012.

Since 2011 is Omega an avid supporter of Orbis. This non-profit organization, specialized in eye-care, provides much-needed medical support worldwide to the most vulnerable communities. They do this by providing training in local hospitals, but also with their flying eye hospital. They are often the only thing that stands between a healthy vision and going blind in many developing countries. For Omega, a worthwhile cause for which they now raise additional funds by launching two special De Ville's.

This expansion plan of Watches of Switzerland capitalises on the rational indulgence of the luxury watch market.

The Swiss not only know how to make watches, they also know how to sail. Alinghi has been most successful at it, winning the America's Cup, one of the world's most demanding sailing competitions, not once but twice. These are not their only achievements as they have on their mantle eight D35 Trophies, won the Bol d'Or seven times, and were victorious in four Extreme Sailing Series championships. Since 2019 Omega is their timing partner, which they now celebrate with a watch. This is not a Seamaster as one would expect, but surprisingly a Speedmaster.

As a brand, Omega has no shortage of pedigree. Both the Seamaster and the Speedmaster have been around for decades while enjoying continuous success. While these are the collections that often grab the headlines, the brand also has a third success story, as the Constellation enjoys an equally rich and long heritage. It has always been a watch that offered a sense of elegance with a sportive touch. This became especially true when in 1982, Omega introduced the bezel with the four claws, which have grown to become a signature feature of the Constellation. Now Omega is adding even more flavor to this collection with new gentleman's models.

The chronograph is among the most popular complications. Many of them have reached the status of being an icon, often for very different reasons. As there are so many chronographs to choose from, here is a short-list of four that any serious watch collector should consider adding to its collection.

Covid-19 is still having a profound impact on the day to day life of many of us. Its impact is felt around the world, also in Switzerland, where many manufactures have carefully increased their operations again and among them Omega. We talk with them to find out how they are coping with this challenging situation, but also look further and discuss the importance of partnerships and what makes the brand so strong.

The central tourbillon has been a hallmark complication of Omega ever since it was introduced in 1994. What makes these watches so exceptional is that the tourbillon can literally take center stage. As Omega opted for a one-minute rotation of the tourbillon cage, it can conveniently double as a seconds indicator as well. Aesthetically, this has resulted in some stunning watches, but Omega is now taking it to new heights with the De Ville Tourbillon Numbered Edition.

Watches don't get any more professional than the Omega Speedmaster, the first watch worn on the moon. Gold might not be an obvious choice to craft such a watch from, but the result is surprisingly elegant when you do. This is most certainly the case with the two new models that Omega recently introduced. With a diameter of 38mm are they slightly smaller than their 'professional' sibling, but still have plenty of wrist presence. They also combine elegance with practical use, as is evident from, for example, the bezel. It is split into two parts, one made from aluminum with a tachymeter scale on it, and the other set with 90 brilliant-cut diamonds.

The history of the Omega Speedmaster is like a treasure trove for watch enthusiasts. The brand has created a wide range of watches that made a significant contribution to the exploration of space. While we haven't visited the moon for quite some time now, the Speedmaster hasn't lost any of its relevance or appeal.
