OMEGA is giving its popular Speedmaster 38 mm collection a refined new direction, introducing seven new references that bring the range even closer to the visual character of the legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch. Announced in Biel/Bienne on August 25, 2026, the latest additions combine subtle design changes with fresh colors, new material combinations and a cleaner dial layout, while preserving the compact proportions that have defined the Speedmaster 38 mm collection.

The Haute Minute

OMEGA expands its Speedmaster 38 mm collection with seven new references, combining Moonwatch inspired design updates, Co Axial movements, fresh colors, bi color finishes and diamond set bezels.

The update is not about reinventing the Speedmaster 38 mm from the ground up. Instead, OMEGA has focused on carefully considered details that make the watches look sportier, cleaner and more closely connected to the brand’s iconic Moonwatch design language. Among the most noticeable changes are the new rounded subdials, which replace the previous oval shapes and give the chronograph a more contemporary appearance. OMEGA has also reduced the amount of wording on the dial, creating a cleaner visual presentation, while the bezels return to a thicker profile featuring the distinctive Dot Over Ninety detail associated with the Moonwatch.

The bracelet has also been redesigned around the Moonwatch aesthetic. Every new Speedmaster 38 mm reference comes on a five link bracelet, with the central links either polished or brushed depending on the specific model. The result is a more cohesive connection between the compact Speedmaster 38 mm and the larger Moonwatch family, while maintaining the elegant proportions that make the 38 mm format appealing to collectors looking for a more refined take on the iconic chronograph.

Underneath these visual updates, OMEGA has equipped the collection with two self winding Co Axial movements. Six of the seven new references use the Co Axial Calibre 3330 and include date functions, while the seventh reference, distinguished by its black dial, uses Calibre 3332 and does not include a date display. This movement strategy gives the collection a clear technical distinction while allowing OMEGA to offer multiple interpretations of the same Speedmaster 38 mm architecture.

The black dial version is perhaps the closest visual interpretation of the traditional Moonwatch aesthetic. It features a black aluminum bezel and a black varnished dial with a matte finish, complemented by hands and indexes filled with white Super LumiNova. The bracelet features three brushed rows alongside two rows of smaller polished links, creating a subtle contrast between the sporty character of the dial and the refined finishing of the bracelet. Unlike the other six references, this model houses the Co Axial Calibre 3332 without a date function.

A white dial version takes the Speedmaster 38 mm in a brighter direction while maintaining the collection’s sporty character. Its blue ceramic bezel features a tachymeter scale executed in white enamel, while the lacquered white dial is paired with blue CVD coated hands and indexes. The same blue shade is carried through to the numerals in the date window, creating a coordinated appearance across the dial.

The silvery dial version introduces a warmer and more sophisticated interpretation. Its warm grey aluminum bezel surrounds an opaline silvery PVD dial, while Sedna Gold PVD hands and baton style indexes provide contrast. White Super LumiNova fills the indexes, while the subdials combine brown and Sedna Gold PVD hands for a more luxurious visual effect.

OMEGA also expands the collection with two bi color models that introduce precious gold elements into the Speedmaster 38 mm design. The first features a stainless steel case with a polished 18K Moonshine Gold bezel, a green aluminum bezel ring and a yellow gold tachymeter scale. Its silvery opaline PVD dial uses Moonshine Gold PVD hands and baton style indexes filled with white Super LumiNova, while the smaller bracelet links are crafted from 18K Moonshine Gold.

The second bi color reference builds on the familiar “cappuccino” character associated with the Speedmaster 38 mm collection. It combines an ivory colored main dial with contrasting brown PVD coated subdials, while the stainless steel case is topped by a polished 18K Sedna Gold bezel and brown aluminum bezel ring. The smaller bracelet links are finished in 18K Sedna Gold, giving this version a warmer and more luxurious personality while retaining the sporty identity of the Speedmaster.

For collectors looking for a more jewelry focused interpretation, OMEGA has introduced two additional Speedmaster 38 mm models with diamond set bezels. Both feature 52 diamonds across the bezel, totaling 1.53 carats, bringing a noticeably more glamorous character to the compact chronograph. One version combines the diamond set bezel with an ice blue PVD coated dial, while the other features a white mother of pearl dial. Both models use rhodium plated hands and baton shaped indexes filled with white Super LumiNova.

Across the seven new references, OMEGA has therefore created a broad spectrum of personalities without moving away from the core Speedmaster 38 mm formula. The collection now spans the monochromatic appeal of the black dial model, the crisp contrast of the white and blue version, the sophisticated warmth of the silvery dial, the luxurious character of the bi color references and the jewelry inspired appeal of the diamond set models.

The Moonwatch influence is particularly important to this latest evolution. OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann explains that the Speedmaster 38 mm has always drawn inspiration from the Moonwatch while balancing size, color and simplicity. With this update, the brand has pushed that relationship further, strengthening the Speedmaster family connection while retaining the distinctive character of the 38 mm range.

That balance is ultimately what makes the 2026 OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm collection interesting. The watches do not attempt to replace the Moonwatch, nor do they simply shrink its design. Instead, OMEGA has used the Moonwatch as a foundation and interpreted its most recognizable visual elements through a more compact and varied platform.

For enthusiasts searching for a new OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm, the latest collection offers a particularly diverse selection. The seven references share the same overall design evolution but deliver very different personalities through their dials, bezels, metals and bracelet treatments. The combination of rounded subdials, cleaner dials, thicker Dot Over Ninety bezels and Moonwatch style five link bracelets gives the entire range a stronger visual identity, while the two Co Axial movements provide the technical foundation beneath the updated designs.

With these seven new references, OMEGA has managed to make the Speedmaster 38 mm feel both familiar and refreshed. The connection to the Moonwatch is clearer than ever, but the collection still maintains enough individuality to stand on its own. For collectors who appreciate the history of the Speedmaster but want a more compact and contemporary expression, these latest models offer a compelling new chapter in one of OMEGA’s most recognizable watch families.

The OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm collection begins at $6,500 in the U.S., with higher specifications and precious materials pushing the price substantially higher.
