In 1999, Patek Philippe surprised the world with the Twenty~4, a stylish manchette-style wristwatch for ladies only. In this watch, inspired by Art Deco design, Patek Philippe combined two materials rarely seen together in their collection; stainless steel with diamonds. Launched with three different colored dials, the Twenty~4 was an instant hit.

The Saxonia has always been an intriguing collection from A. Lange & Söhne. A true legend has left us this week, as Diego Maradona passed away from heart failure. When the question is raised who was the greatest soccer player in the world, Pelé and Maradona are usually named. The two were close friends who openly admired each other. Maradona effectively utilized his small stature with his unsurpassed ball control and passing and dribbling skills on the field. This made it possible to make a goal after a 60-yard dribble, passing five England players in the 1986 Word Cup quarter-final. In 2002 this moment was voted 'Goal of the Century' at FIFA.com. In 2010, MB&F launched the HM4 Thunderbolt. This aviation-inspired watch was even among the rest of the collection of the brand an eyecatcher. That same year it also won the prize for Best Concept & Design Watch at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). Its construction, of both the case and the movement, was complex, even by MB&F standards. Only 100 were made, the last one being delivered to a collector years ago. To commemorate its 10th anniversary did MB&F turn the original prototype of the HM4 Thunderbolt into a piece unique.

The list of complications in which Jaeger-LeCoultre specializes is almost endless. In 1946, the brand made its first tourbillon, then still in a pocket watch, but from 1993 it was also introduced in a wristwatch. While Jaeger-LeCoultre loves to innovate, as they did, in 2004, by making the Gyrotourbillon 1, the world's first spherical, dual-axis tourbillon, they never forget the traditional tourbillon either.
