Despite extraordinary circumstances, Abeking & Rasmussen successfully delivered the 68.2m Mega Yacht “SOARING” to her owner at the yard in Lemwerder. Aptly named after the soar of an eagle, Soaring is a superyacht that truly represents the resistance and fortitude required for the new normal!

The construction of Soaring began in January and with the outbreak of the pandemic, it was completed with the strictly separated two-shift system, extensive hygiene measures, protective face masks with reduced human contacts as far as possible. With a 1,500 GT, Soaring was a passion project that marks a significant achievement for her owner and designer alike. However, Soaring will not only be available as a private yacht for her Owner but also for charter guests to venture out to the most beautiful destinations worldwide as it is listed on for charter with Ocean Independence.

The sophisticated 11.6-metre beam, sporty line and contemporary style of the exteriors and the interiors are a result of brilliant minds at German studio Focus Yacht Design. According to Thomas Mühe, managing director of the Bremen-based design studio, the owner wanted an exterior that “wouldn’t be mistaken for any other yacht on the horizon”, thus a grey hull with a vivid boot-stripe meets a white superstructure, which is broken up by the sinuous curves of black and interesting window shapes.

The interiors as well are a reflection of the owner’s lifestyle and personality. A muted or neutral colour palette of black, white and browns and a unifying motif is seen throughout all the public areas and cabins. Materials are limited, for example, contrasting veneers of dark Amara ebony and light-bleached Tiama.

Soaring can host up to 12 guests in five staterooms located on the main deck. The upper deck houses the master suite along with the owner’s library, aft deck and lounging areas. A crew of up to 17 would be serving the guests. The sundeck with its alfresco bar, Jacuzzi and sun pads is perfect for a great relaxation spree amidst the waves. The lower deck offers a beach club which includes a gym, spa, steam room and swimming platform. From there, the guests will also have access to the water toys and tenders- two 20-foot tenders, guests can make use of two aqua bikes, two seabobs, kayaks and paddleboards. Talking about the speed and range, Soaring has the top speed of 16 knots, a cruising speed of 14 knots fueled by the two 2000 hp MTU engines.
