Haute Time: Tell us some of the most exciting developments at Urwerk today?

Martin Frei: I am proud about the response that we get on our most recent model UR-110, and I am thrilled about the fact that we are going to introduce a new watch to you in the autumn 2012, one that takes us even further into this new world of mechanical art.

Haute TimeWhat watch do you wear daily?

Martin Frei: I am attached to all our watches; each one of them embodies, and hence reminds me of the time period in my life were it was created. I enjoy to wear every model, depending on my mood, or if I am about to draw a future new version of it. I wear a prototype, in fact the first ever COBRA, (UR-CC1) a lot. It looks “uebercool”, and I like the way the robot-like machine sits on my wrist.

Haute Time: If money was not a concern, which Urwerk would you recommend to a customer?

Martin Frei: All our watches are crafted with the same enthusiasm, and obsession for detail, plus we don’t build that many of them. For that reason I feel at liberty to leave this painful pleasure of decision up to our distinguished customer.

Haute Time: For movement, what watch do you produce that you are most proud of?

Martin Frei: That will be our UR-1001, called “Zeit Device”; it is a piece of mechanical art that features quite a few of the complications and inventions we developed over the recent years.

Haute Time: Blackberry/Iphone/Android?

Martin Frei: IPhone, (dreaming of an Android)
