To be quite frank, the F.P.Journe Linesport Collection is one of the ultimate sports watch collections in the industry. It blends a sporty aesthetic with the premium craftsmanship of haute horology by F.P.Journe into a collection that is incredibly modern and cool. A Haute Time favorite from the collection, the Chronographe Rattrapante in titanium grade 5 (though available in three other models as well, one other titanium grade 5, one in 18-karat 6N Gold, and one platinum PT950), is the epitome of F.P.Journe’s mastery of sports watches.

At the heart of the Chronographe Rattrapante lies a meticulously crafted 44mm diameter case, with a slim profile of just 12.1mm. Within this case, the monopoussoir split-second chronograph movement takes center stage. This exceptional movement features a very large date display, an innovation that enhances both functionality and readability. In the Titanium version, the date mechanism is crafted from aluminum alloy, while the 18K 6N Gold and Platinum versions boast a date mechanism made from 18K Rose Gold, adding a touch of luxury to the mix.

One of the standout features of the Chronographe Rattrapante is its impressive power reserve, lasting a remarkable 80 hours. This extended power reserve ensures that the chronograph remains operational even after two full days, allowing you to make the most of its rattrapante function. The date window itself measures 5.20 x 2.80 mm, providing increased legibility and adding to the overall appeal of the timepiece.

The aesthetic detailing of the Chronographe Rattrapante is equally impressive. The tachymetric bezel, inlaid with ceramic, adds a sporty touch, while the new typographic numeral pays homage to the exquisite 2017 Only Watch timepiece.

For the Titanium models, the dial features an aluminum alloy in either yellow or slate grey, adorned with luminescent applied numerals. The two chronograph counters are meticulously engraved in sapphire, enhancing both the watch’s elegance and functionality. Luminescent hour and minute hands ensure optimal readability.

Despite its complexity and craftsmanship, the F.P.Journe Chronographe Rattrapante is incredibly lightweight and comfortable to wear. The Titanium versions, in particular, weigh a mere 81 grams, making it a practical and stylish choice for everyday wear.

Behind the scenes, the Calibre 1518 with manual winding, conceived by F.P.Journe, is a true testament to the brand’s commitment to watchmaking tradition and exclusive craftsmanship. Each watchmaker at F.P.Journe oversees all assembly stages from start to finish, a practice that sets the brand apart in the industry.

Inspired by the 2017 Only Watch Chronograph, this new movement features a direct gearing chronograph with a rocking pinion, eliminating the jump of the hand at the start—a notable advancement in precision timekeeping. The integration of the very large date, a signature of the F.P.Journe brand, required meticulous engineering to maintain a total height of only 6.80mm. The movement’s exquisite finishing and decorations are on full display through a transparent sapphire back, showcasing the undeniable qualities of F.P.Journe haute horology. With the Chronographe Rattrapante, F.P.Journe continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking excellence while offering collectors a choice of exceptional timepieces that blend sophistication with innovation.
