Vacheron Constantin has just introduced the first minute repeater in the iconic Overseas collection: the Overseas Grand Complication Openface. Equipped with the remarkable caliber 2755 QP, this elegant sports watch marries a minute repeater, perpetual calendar, tourbillon, and power reserve indicator within a sleek, water-resistant titanium case.

The Overseas Grand Complication Openface is a testament to Vacheron Constantin’s mastery, integrating 602 components into a 7.9 mm-thick movement housed in a 44.5 mm titanium case. Achieving water resistance—a rare feat for minute repeaters—required 18 months of research to redesign the caseback, preserving the Overseas collection’s slender, sporty silhouette.

The caliber 2755 QP, an evolution of the movement that debuted in the 2005 Tour de l’Île, combines three major complications. The perpetual calendar, requiring no adjustment until 2100, displays the date, day, month, and leap-year cycle, while the tourbillon, with its hand-polished bridges, performs a mesmerizing ballet at 2.5 Hz. The minute repeater, activated by a case-side slider, chimes hours, quarters, and minutes with pristine clarity, governed by a proprietary centripetal regulator. This silent mechanism, featuring two centrifugal weights and a hand-polished 750/1000 gold arc engraved with Jean-Marc Vacheron’s initials, ensures precise musical sequences, showcasing the Maison’s obsessive attention to detail.

True to the Overseas collection’s sporty DNA, the watch features a grade 5 titanium case and integrated bracelet, enhanced by a sandblasted, polished, and satin-brushed bezel—a new signature for titanium models. The transparent sapphire dial reveals the movement’s intricate beauty, with rhodium-plated wheels and anthracite-grey NAC-treated bridges creating a striking contrast. Blue metalized circles frame the time and calendar indications, engraved in white for enhanced legibility, while 18-carat white gold hour markers appear to float, amplifying the airy aesthetic. The interchangeable titanium bracelet, paired with blue alligator and rubber straps, offers versatility without tools, embodying the collection’s practical elegance.

Every element of the Overseas Grand Complication Openface reflects Vacheron Constantin’s haute horlogerie prowess. The movement’s finishes—mirror-polished hammers, beveled bridges, circular satin-brushed wheels, and Côtes de Genève decoration—demonstrate meticulous hand-finishing. The tourbillon bridges, rounded and tapered by hand, enhance the visual lightness, while the centripetal regulator’s polished gold arc adds a sculptural flourish visible through the sapphire caseback. Social media buzz on X has hailed the watch as “a masterpiece of innovation,” with collectors praising its blend of technical complexity and wearable design.

As Vacheron Constantin’s first minute-repeater Overseas model, this timepiece joins the ranks of the Maison’s most ambitious creations, following in the footsteps of the 270th-anniversary Tour de l’Île. Its ability to combine a grand complication with the collection’s water-resistant, sporty ethos is a feat of engineering, requiring over a year of development to perfect the case and movement integration. With only limited production planned, the watch is poised to become a collector’s grail, appealing to those who value both horological artistry and modern functionality.
