Roger Dubuis is one of the few brands that have a very successful partnership with a leading car brand. Perhaps it is because it shares the same outlook on product development with Lamborghini, or that they have a similar style. A fact is that the machines from Sant’Agata Bolognese have served as an inspiration for Roger Dubuis to create equally impressive watches. One of these watches is based on the Huracán, Lamborghini‘s V10 powered sports car which replaced the Gallardo in 2014.

The Excalibur Huracán is a watch that Roger Dubuis developed with Squadra Corse, the racing team of Lamborghini. The design of the watch oozes an undeniable need for speed that we can also find in its automotive counterpart, with subtle references like the date numerals which resemble that of the speedometer in the Huracán. While good looking, the Excalibur Huracán is more than that. It is powered by automatic caliber RD630 and fitted with a balance wheel that is placed at a 12º angle. Prominently visible in the skeletonized movement at the twelve o’clock position, does it contribute to higher accuracy of this mechanical movement. Roger Dubuis skeletonized the movement also in Lamborghini style, resembling the strut bars that we can find over the engine of the Huracán. Underneath them, we also find the two mainspring barrels that give this watch a power reserve of 60-hours.

For the latest edition, Roger Dubuis opted to create an all-black version of the watch. By doing so, it amplifies its technical character, as the lighter colored movement parts become more eyecatching. Its 45mm large titanium case and bezel now feature a black DLC-coating, and Roger Dubuis even went as far as to fill in the black hands with dark-colored Super Luminova. A matching rubber strap is not only a finishing touch but also ensures that this watch will be comfortable around the wrist, preferably while taking some hairpins on a challenging mountain road while driving your Lamborghini Huracán.
