Ressence has launched the TYPE 10 DN (Dark Night), the first oil-filled Ressence powered by the brand’s own movement, the in-house RW-04 caliber. Limited to 100 pieces, the 41.5mm Grade 5 titanium watch weighs just 82 grams, hides 538 components behind a single deep-blue surface, and is priced at CHF 45,000 excluding taxes, with deliveries from November 2026.
The Ressence TYPE 10 DN (Dark Night) is the first oil-filled Ressence driven by the in-house RW-04 caliber. The 41.5mm, 82-gram titanium watch is limited to 100 pieces at CHF 45,000 excluding taxes, available from November 2026.
The Antwerp independent revealed the watch in New York on October 16, and its origin story is low-tech. TYPE 10 began in 2022 as a few sketches on Post-its stuck to founder Benoît Mintiens’ computer screen, with a new layer added every few months. Ressence calls the result “a lasagna of ideas,” and four years later those separate components had evolved into one coherent form.

“The first cars were essentially carriages with engines added to them,” Mintiens explains. “Over time, all those separate elements became increasingly integrated. You see the same thing with aircraft, from wings and bodies bolted together to the shape of a modern fighter jet. TYPE 10 went through that same evolution, on Post-its.” The brand frames the case the same way, drawing on the hydrodynamic shapes of animals so the case flows into the strap and the sapphire follows the case.
Inside the Ressence TYPE 10 DN
On the wrist, the TYPE 10 DN is meant to read as a monochromatic monolith. Case, dial, and integrated rubber strap share the same Dark Night blue, and the polished titanium case carries a hard coating applied with a HarDeCo technique. “It should feel as if it is one seamless object,” says Mintiens. “Almost as if you took a piece of material and carved the watch out of it.” In my view, that ambition is what the oil makes possible.
The upper chamber holds 2.95ml of silicone-based oil, which visually lifts the convex titanium dial toward the crystal and erases the gaps between Ressence’s rotating discs, the ROCS system that replaces conventional hands. Hours, minutes, a second time zone, and a 120-second runner share one continuous graphical surface, while engraved indications are filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova.

The engineering underneath does the harder work. The RW-04 is self-winding, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and delivers a 60-hour power reserve from two barrels across 252 components. It runs in air, while the 196-component ROCS 10 module glides in oil in a separate, hermetically sealed chamber. Micro-magnets on each side, just 0.2mm apart and separated by a 0.1mm titanium membrane, carry the motion through the case with no shaft and no opening.
Every indication has a job. The 120-second runner doubles as a shock absorber, steadying the magnetic transmission as the wrist moves, and a color-coded indicator in the hour disc shows the oil’s temperature, with green marking its normal range of roughly 25°C, give or take 10°C. An expansion membrane absorbs changes in oil volume, and each oil-filled Ressence is tested for an hour at 60°C and an hour at -5°C before it ships.
A Daily Watch in Titanium
Ressence pitches the watch as a daily companion, and the details support it. There is no crown; winding and time setting happen through the case back, where the RW-04 is visible through a donut-shaped sapphire window. Double-domed sapphire crystals sit front and back, the Ressence Compression Lock System provides 5 ATM of water resistance, and the fixed bezel is built from 24 titanium segments.

That bezel is my favorite detail. Small sandblasted inserts filled with luminous paint alternate with larger, linearly brushed segments, and the brushing turns 30 degrees from one segment to the next, so light travels around the minute track as the wrist moves. The integrated strap closes with a polished Grade 5 titanium buckle in hard DLC.
The Ressence TYPE 10 DN is limited to 100 pieces at CHF 45,000 excluding taxes, with availability from November 2026, and Ressence’s TYPE 10 DN product page lists it at €60,000 including VAT. For a brand that has spent years putting other people’s movements under oil, this is the version where the whole machine finally belongs to Ressence.
