The Short Answer

With just under two weeks to go, Jaeger-LeCoultre is gearing up for the 70th annual Venice International Film Festival...

Luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre is gearing up for the prestigious Venice International Film Festival. It’s a fitting partnership between the film festival, which is in its 70th year, and Jaeger-LeCoultre, which is celebrating its 180th anniversary.

This is the 9th year Jaeger-LeCoultre has been a sponsor of the Venice International Film Festival. Each year, the Swiss manufacture awards the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker 2013 prize to a personality who has brought major innovation to contemporary cinema. This year Jaeger-LeCoultre will honor Ettore Scola, the master of Italian cinema.

The prize will be conferred to Scola at an awards ceremony which will take place on September 6th, coinciding with the world premiere of his new film Che strano chiamarsi Federico!, a tribute to Federico Fellini on the 20th anniversary of his death.

Daniel Riedo, the CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, told us, “Celebrating its 180th anniversary, Jaeger- LeCoultre has established itself as a major player in the watchmaking industry and as a true beacon of the spirit of innovation and invention, respected at the same time for upholding watchmaking traditions. There is a shared obsession between ground breaking cinematographic achievement and horological accomplishment. The fact that Jaeger-LeCoultre has always had an affinity with the 7th Art is doubtless because it is all about two worlds infused with creative effervescence and with a longstanding tradition of inspirational art combined with technological daring”.

In honor of its 180th anniversary, Jaeger-LeCoultre will present its Jubilee collection (including the Reverso engraved 70 Mostra below) during the festival.
