Throwback Thursday: Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm

Few vintage watches possess such a flair as the (Jaeger-)LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm. Although over sixty years old, it combines an exciting complication with a captivating design, housed in a case with a very contemporary diameter of 39mm. It is a true rarity, not only because diving watches with an alarm function are seldomly seen, but also because Jaeger-LeCoultre made this model for only three years, between 1959 and 1962. It was launched as Jaeger-LeCoultre in Europe, while this American version only carried the name of LeCoultre.

History Repeating With The New Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater

The Reverso by Jaeger-LeCoultre is an icon in its own right. However, while a superb part of horological history in its original, time-only configuration, it is also a magnificent canvas for the brand to show its considerable technical prowess. That is precisely what they have done with the new Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater. Jaeger-LeCoultre has significant experience with this type of complication, as since its founding, they have developed and built over 200 different chiming calibers. In 1994 they launched the Reverso Répétition Minutes, for which they miniaturized a minute repeater to fit a Reverso, making the world’s first rectangular minute repeater movement in the process.

The Precious History Of The New Reverso One Cordonnet Duetto Jewellery

Within the rich heritage of Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Reverso holds a unique place. Born in 1931, it was a purposely build sports watch with an elegant side. Its unique swiveling case could protect the then still fragile glass covering the dial from impact during a polo game. While initially a men's watch, ladies adopted the style not too long after. As this was the height of the Art Deco period, watches were worn in very elegant ways, and one of the most stunning was where the case of the watch was attached to the wrist by a silk rope. Jaeger-LeCoultre brought back that style, yet now in a most precious version. It replaced the silk rope for gold and set it entirely with diamonds, highlighting a precious part of their heritage.

Haute Complication: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185

For decades Jaeger-LeCoultre has been known as the watchmakers' watchmaker. The reason behind this is that its movements, and they have made over 1200 different calibers to date, are so good that they also supplied them to some of the greatest names in the watchworld, such as Cartier, Audemars Piguet, and Van Cleef & Arpels. One field in which they excel in particular is that of grande complications. In this, Jaeger-LeCoultre likes to challenge itself, as they did this year with the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185.

The Hottest Ladies Watches Of Watches & Wonders 2021

Watches & Wonders was a great success, even though it was with the exception of the event in Shanghai, a virtual event. The watch brands quickly adapted to the new reality and dazzled from abroad through the digital channels. What, fortunately, didn't change was the vast amount of amazing watches that they introduced. For men, but also for ladies, there are plenty of new models to choose from. A current trend for women's watches is that mechanical movements are the new standard, of course, accompanied by a generous dash of elegance.
