Introducing the Panerai Submersible GMT PAM01495 Just in Time For Summer

The new Panerai Submersible GMT PAM01495 represents one of the boldest modern interpretations of the professional dive watch. Combining advanced engineering, lightweight titanium construction, and a fully skeletonized movement, the PAM01495 pushes Panerai’s technical identity forward while remaining deeply connected to the brand’s military roots and tool-watch heritage. Designed for serious underwater performance rather than simple aesthetics, the watch reflects Panerai’s continued focus on functionality, durability, and precision in extreme conditions.
At the heart of the watch is the sophisticated P.4001/S automatic caliber, a highly technical movement made up of 341 individual components and enhanced by two patented systems. Unlike many skeletonized watches that prioritize appearance over usability, Panerai engineered this movement to preserve readability and practical functionality while still exposing the intricate architecture beneath the dial. The result is a watch that feels both mechanically impressive and purpose-built for real-world use.
One of the most innovative features is the patented polarized date display. Traditional date discs in skeletonized watches often block the movement underneath because they rely on opaque components. Panerai solved this problem by creating a polarized system that remains nearly invisible until viewed directly through the date aperture at 3 o’clock. This allows the movement to remain visually open while still providing full date functionality.

The watch also includes a GMT complication with an AM/PM indicator, allowing wearers to track a second time zone while traveling. Panerai chose a bright orange GMT hand specifically for visibility, drawing inspiration from marine equipment and diving markers that rely on bold colors to remain visible against water and sky. The GMT function is paired with a patented jumping-hour mechanism that allows the local hour hand to move independently in one-hour increments, making travel adjustments quick and intuitive.
Panerai reinforced the watch’s precision-focused identity with a military-inspired seconds reset function. Pulling the crown instantly resets the seconds hand to zero, allowing accurate synchronization with a reference time signal. It is a subtle feature, but one that reflects the brand’s long-standing history of building watches for professional military use.
The 47mm case is produced using Titanium DMLS, or Direct Metal Laser Sintering, an advanced 3D-printing process that builds the case layer by layer from Grade 5 titanium powder. Panerai was among the first luxury watch brands to explore this technology, filing related patents as early as 2012. The construction allows internal cavities to be created within the case, significantly reducing weight while maintaining strength and durability.

Compared to traditional titanium cases, the DMLS structure is approximately 25 percent lighter and more than 50 percent lighter than steel. This dramatically improves wearability despite the watch’s substantial 47mm dimensions. The material also offers exceptional resistance to corrosion, making it particularly well suited for marine environments and professional diving conditions.
The sandblasted titanium case is paired with a titanium bezel featuring a matte blue ceramic insert, giving the watch a distinctly modern and technical aesthetic. The exposed mechanics, blue detailing, and industrial textures create a futuristic appearance while still maintaining the unmistakable identity of the Panerai Submersible collection.

Powering the movement is an off-centered tungsten micro-rotor that helps preserve visibility across the skeletonized architecture while reducing the thickness of the caliber. Two barrels work together to provide an impressive 72-hour power reserve, allowing the watch to operate continuously for three full days. Rather than placing the power reserve indicator on the dial, Panerai positioned it on the sapphire case back to preserve the clean functionality and legibility of the front display.
A distinctive grid-like structure integrated into the movement serves as a direct reference to the heavy-duty military nets historically used to secure ships in harbors. This subtle design detail connects the watch visually to Panerai’s maritime history while adding further depth and texture to the skeletonized movement.
Achieving 500 meters of water resistance in a skeletonized watch is already a major engineering accomplishment, but Panerai goes even further through extensive testing procedures. Every completed watch undergoes waterproof testing that exceeds the stated depth rating by an additional 25 percent safety margin. The process includes vacuum pressure testing, immersion testing, and thermal evaluations designed to reveal even the slightest moisture intrusion.

As a professional diving instrument, every component of the PAM01495 contributes to underwater usability. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows divers to monitor immersion times accurately, while the hands and markers are coated with Super-LumiNova for visibility in low-light environments. Panerai uses blue luminescence for the minute hand and bezel markers while the remaining elements glow green, ensuring critical timing information remains easy to read underwater.
The watch is delivered on a blue rubber strap with a sandblasted titanium trapezoidal buckle and includes an additional black bi-material strap prbuesented inside a deluxe blue cherry wood box. Panerai confirmed that the Submersible GMT PAM01495 will be available exclusively through Panerai boutiques beginning in May 2026.
