The 2024 Award Season has officially commenced – and while it’s exciting uncovering the winners for the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards – and the award shows to follow — our eyes are on one thing only: the watches. Red carpet watch spottings at the beginning of the year are more than just a stunning watch on our favorite celebrities: they set the tone for the remainder of the horological year, revealing what actors have remained close to certain Maisons and who have jumped ship to try a new watch entirely for the season. Not to mention, watches are the accessory on the red carpet, completely transforming a mundane tuxedo or breaking the norm in how to wear watches, which we are expecting to see this season.  Ahead, we’re revealing some of our favorite watches spotted at the Golden Globe Awards, from Vacheron Constantin to a staggering number of OMEGA pieces.

Throughout 2023, Canadian actor Simu Liu kept us on his toes with his wrist game, wearing brands from IWC to Rolex. And last night, he stepped out in our favorite of them all: the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Retrograde Day-Date in pink gold. This timepiece showcases a unique blend of retrograde hand-type day and date display, drawing inspiration from 1950s design aesthetics. The dial’s hour markers and hands gracefully follow its contours, while the sunburst satin finish of the blue-colored dial adds a touch of elegance. Additionally, a “circular-pearl” minute-track on the dial enhances its light-reflecting qualities.

Wonka lead — and global obsession — Timothée Chalamet wore Cartier, to no surprise. Matching the sparkle in his CELINE look, Chalamet rocked the Cartier Crash in 18-karat white gold adorned with 149 brilliant-cut diamonds, and features a beaded crown set with another brilliant-cut diamond, with a combined weight of 2.15 carats. The bracelet, also in rhodium-finish 18K white gold, is embellished with 321 brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling 2.12 carats, and designed for a wrist size of 170 mm. The timepiece showcases a silvered opaline dial with a sunray effect, complemented by sword-shaped hands in blued steel and protected by a mineral crystal.

Colman Domingo is hands down our best-dressed from the evening, from his Louis Vuitton suit to his OMEGA Constellation Globemaster 41MM, Sedna Gold on a leather strap — and if we’re being completely candid, OMEGA swept the red carpet last evening, perhaps setting the brand’s intention for the award season ahead. The Globemaster 41.00 mm model, with its 18K Sedna™ gold case, sun-brushed blue “Pie Pan” dial, and Co-Axial Master Chronometer Annual Calendar Calibre 8923, represents OMEGA’s pioneering move into the world of Master Chronometers and anti-magnetic watchmaking technology.

Another best-dressed in OMEGA, Barry Keoghan (who recently starred in Saltburn) was spotted in the Seamaster Aqua Terra 34MM, Sedna Gold on Sedna Gold, sparkling in rubies as hour markers that perfectly matched his Louis Vuitton suiting. This Seamaster Aqua Terra, with its 18K Sedna™ gold case, dazzling diamond and ruby accents, and Master Chronometer caliber 8807, is a true masterpiece of horological craftsmanship and elegance fit for the red carpet.

Robert Downey Jr. stole the spotlight at the 2024 Golden Globes, donning a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph in pink gold, epitomizing timeless style, while also winning Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for his role in “Oppenheimer.”

Kevin Costner in OMEGA

Another remarkable OMEGA spotting, Kevin Costner, who was a presenter at the awards, wore the rather sleek OMEGADe Ville Prestige 41MM, Steel on a leather strap. As the OMEGA De Ville Prestige collection is now in its third generation, this timepiece incorporated a distinctive sun-brushed silvery dial with a stamped vertical pattern, rhodium-plated hands, Roman numerals, and cabochon indexes, this 41 mm stainless steel timepiece showcases a classic yet refined design, enhanced by a date window, small-seconds subdial, and railway minute track, all powered by the Master Chronometer certified OMEGA Master Co-Axial Caliber 8802, visible through the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal caseback, while elegantly presented on a black leather strap.

Will Ferrell in OMEGA

Frozen in perhaps the best watch pose of the evening, Golden Globe presenter Will Ferrell opted for a sportier look to complement his white tuxedo jacket, the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 42MM, Titanium on Titanium. The 42mm Seamaster, mirroring 007’s watch in No Time To Die, features Grade 2 Titanium construction, a brown tropical aluminium bezel ring and dial, and is driven by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8806, while its slimmer profile and Grade 2 Titanium mesh bracelet enhance its distinguished design.

“Succession” also had quite the evening, sweeping the television awards. While receiving the award, Kieran Culkin was spotted wearing the TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox in navy — which wasn’t totally unexpected as Culkin attended the intimate TAG Heuer Flagship dinner in New York City earlier this year.

Cillian Murphy in OMEGA

Last, but certainly not least, Golden Globe winner Cillian Murphy (for “Oppenheimer”) wore the OMEGA De Ville Trésor 40MM, Sedna Gold on a leather strap — making the burgundy his pop-of-color against his black suit. The De Ville Trésor features a polished 40 mm 18K Sedna™ gold case, complemented by a burgundy leather strap, and houses the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8927 for exceptional precision and magnetic resistance.
