Grand Seiko has unveiled a significant evolution of its acclaimed Evolution 9 Collection, introducing nine refined timepieces that further elevate the brand’s signature blend of precision engineering, exceptional craftsmanship, and Japanese-inspired design. The refreshed lineup includes five Spring Drive models powered by the advanced Caliber 9RB2 and four mechanical creations equipped with the flagship Caliber 9SA5 movement, reinforcing Grand Seiko’s commitment to creating the ideal wristwatch.

Designed around the core Evolution 9 principles of aesthetics, legibility, and wearing comfort, the new collection introduces a series of thoughtful refinements. One of the most notable upgrades is the addition of a newly developed three-step micro-adjustment clasp that allows wearers to make precise, tool-free bracelet adjustments in 2mm increments. The majority of the collection maintains the familiar 40mm case diameter while incorporating a more tapered bracelet profile that enhances both comfort and elegance on the wrist.

Material innovation also plays a central role in the collection. Seven of the nine new references are crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, a premium stainless steel alloy celebrated for its superior corrosion resistance and bright appearance. The remaining models utilize High-Intensity Titanium, a lightweight material that is approximately 30 percent lighter than stainless steel while offering increased scratch resistance and durability.

At the heart of the Spring Drive models is the remarkable Caliber 9RB2, first introduced in 2025. Delivering an extraordinary annual accuracy of ±20 seconds and a power reserve of 72 hours, the movement represents one of the most precise spring-driven wristwatch calibers available today. This exceptional level of performance is achieved through Grand Seiko’s proprietary engineering, including vacuum-sealed crystal oscillators and integrated circuits that minimize the effects of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, static electricity, and light exposure.

Nature remains a defining influence throughout the collection. Several of the new Spring Drive references feature Grand Seiko’s beloved Lake Suwa dial pattern, inspired by the tranquil waters near the Shinshu Watch Studio in Nagano Prefecture. New blue dial variations capture the shimmering reflection of morning sunlight on the lake’s surface, offering a lighter and more expressive interpretation of the iconic design. For the first time, the Lake Suwa motif is also presented in black, evoking the mysterious beauty of moonlight dancing across the water at midnight. The black-dial model is housed in High-Intensity Titanium, enhancing both comfort and resilience.

The collection further expands its appeal with the introduction of a 37mm Lake Suwa model, bringing the celebrated design to a more compact format while preserving its visual impact and technical sophistication. Additional Spring Drive creations draw inspiration from the natural landscapes surrounding the Shinshu Watch Studio, including the striking white birch forests of Nagano and the flowing waters of the scenic Atera Valley. These textured dials transform elements of the Japanese landscape into wearable works of art.

The mechanical side of the Evolution 9 Collection receives equal attention with four refreshed models powered by Grand Seiko’s flagship Caliber 9SA5. Operating at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve, the movement combines performance with efficiency through the use of a Dual Impulse Escapement and twin-barrel architecture. Its slim construction is made possible by a proprietary horizontal gear train layout, while the movement’s design pays tribute to the natural beauty surrounding the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, drawing inspiration from Mount Iwate and the nearby Shizukuishi River.

Among the most recognizable designs returning to the lineup is the celebrated White Birch dial. Inspired by the expansive birch forests surrounding the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, the textured pattern captures the vitality, beauty, and depth of the trees. The refreshed version retains the original dial design while introducing Ever-Brilliant Steel construction and the new micro-adjustment clasp. Additional variations include a black dial inspired by the quiet atmosphere of the forest at night and a green dial that reflects birch trees illuminated by summer sunlight.

Another standout addition takes inspiration from the renowned Genbi Valley in Iwate Prefecture. Characterized by rugged rock formations and crystal-clear waters, the valley serves as the inspiration for a textured light blue dial that beautifully captures the freshness and movement of summer streams flowing through the landscape.

The new Spring Drive U.F.A. references will begin arriving at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide in September 2026, while the mechanical models are scheduled for release in October 2026. Pricing starts at $10,200 for most Ever-Brilliant Steel models and reaches $11,400 for the titanium references.

With enhanced comfort, industry-leading accuracy, innovative materials, and dial designs inspired by some of Japan’s most breathtaking natural landscapes, the renewed Evolution 9 Collection represents a thoughtful evolution of one of Grand Seiko’s most important modern watch families. It is a collection that continues to demonstrate the brand’s ability to merge technical excellence with artistic storytelling in a uniquely Japanese way.
