Bulgari Coins ‘Time Is Gold’ For Its LVMH Watch Week 2024 Novelties
LVMH Watch Week has officially commenced — this year, in Miami — and for Bulgari, the message is quite clear: the Italian Maison is going for the gold. An integral element of Bulgari since the Art Deco era, Gold has been intricately woven into the fabric of its horological narrative. At LVMH Watch Week 2024, the metal takes center stage, elevating classics like the Bulgari Bulgari, the Lucea, and evolving the Octo Finissimo.
BULGARI BULGARI
Bulgari Bulgari, an icon in its own right, emerged in 1975, conceived by Gianni Bulgari and designed by legendary Gérald Genta (who is also showing for the first time this LVMH Watch Week). Over the years, it has captured international acclaim, earning its place as an “icon of icons.” On the verge of its 50th anniversary, Bulgari Bulgari rekindles its original allure, now pairing yellow gold with a black dial and rose gold with a silver opaline dial. Available in two case sizes — 26 and 38 mm — the new sizes feel incredibly modern.
Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, discussing the original Bulgari Bulgari, states, “With its pure aesthetic, the original Bulgari Bulgari perfectly embodies our DNA, without any need for further embellishment.” Adhering to the original timepiece from 1975, the yellow gold models boast a contrasting black watch face with gilded Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock.
OCTO FINISSIMO
Introduced in 2014, the Octo Finissimo had set eight records for slimness, each blending a mechanical revolution with inimitable Italian style. This year, it embraces the luster of yellow gold, recalling the vintage charm of the first Art Deco watches designed by Bulgari in the late 1930s. Additionally, the Octo Finissimo is introduced in Tuscan Copper. The Octo Finissimo Yellow Gold represents a technical marvel, seamlessly integrating the timeless aesthetic of yellow gold with the watch’s bold lines and Roman-inspired geometry. Its 58-faceted case, satin-finished yellow gold bracelet, and deep blue sunray dial exude exquisite finesse, while the in-house BVL 138 caliber, incredibly slim at just 2.23 mm, showcases meticulous hand-finished details, including chamfers, circular graining, and Côtes de Genève stripe.
LUCEA
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Lucea takes center stage this year as the quintessential feminine piece. Crafted in steel and gold, its reimagined lines elegantly encase dials featuring iridescent mother-of-pearl Intarsio or marquetry made of upcycled malachite fragments. The standout piece from this repertoire is definitely the malachite model, which was actually made with upcycled malachite stones, hand-place to create a stunning, dynamic dial.
