The Haute Guide to the Best New Watches of September 2026

Rolex’s Perpetual Padellone, an 8.1mm Vacheron Constantin perpetual calendar, Ulysse Nardin’s first enamel Freak and a sold-out Moser lead the best new watches of September 2026.

September is usually the month the watch world clears its throat. Geneva Watch Days opens the season, the boutiques fill back up after August, and the brands that held their fire through the summer finally start talking. This year they had plenty to say. Rolex built a moonphase, Vacheron Constantin made a perpetual calendar thinner than most dress watches, and H. Moser & Cie. sold a digital watch online, then watched it sell out.

The Haute Minute

September 2026’s best new watches include the Rolex Perpetual Padellone annual calendar, an 8.1mm Vacheron Constantin Overseas perpetual calendar in azure, Ulysse Nardin’s first enamel Freak, IWC’s Genta-endorsed Ingenieur 50th editions, and H. Moser & Cie.’s sold-out Off-Grid.

September 2026’s best new watches include the Rolex Perpetual Padellone annual calendar, an 8.1mm Vacheron Constantin Overseas perpetual calendar in azure, Ulysse Nardin’s first enamel Freak, IWC’s Genta-endorsed Ingenieur 50th editions, and H. Moser & Cie.’s sold-out Off-Grid.

What ties the month together is history, used well. Nearly every standout release here looks backward, to a 1950s calendar, a 1976 steel sports watch, a 1988 pebble or a 2001 hand-wound movement, and then does something new with it. Here are the best new watches of September 2026, eight releases we covered over the past four weeks and would happily wear into fall.

Rolex Perpetual Padellone

Rolex does not make many complications, and it almost never makes a moonphase, so the Perpetual Padellone was the month’s genuine event. Named for the coveted reference 8171, the 39mm annual calendar shows day, month and date, plus a blue enamel moonphase with moons cut from meteorite. The new caliber 7190 beats at 5 Hz, uses the Dynapulse escapement first seen in the Land-Dweller, and runs a calendar system called Haplos that adds just two components to recognize 30- and 31-day months. It comes in Everose gold on leather at $59,000, platinum with an ice-blue dial at $66,200, and Everose on the new Settimo bracelet at $72,800. In our view, it is the most intriguing Rolex in years.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Azure

For the Overseas’ 30th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin chose finesse over volume. The Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Azure Dial puts the 4.05mm Caliber 1120 QP/1 inside a 41.5mm white gold case just 8.1mm thick, and pairs it for the first time with a softer, lighter azure lacquer dial. The Geneva Seal movement shows through the caseback, and the white gold bracelet swaps without tools for white or denim-blue rubber. It is limited to 200 pieces at $132,000. It is the rare anniversary piece that feels like a better watch, not just a new color.

Ulysse Nardin Freak [ONE] Blue Enamel

For the Freak’s 25th anniversary, Ulysse Nardin did something it had never done: it brought enamel and guilloché to the Freak [ONE] for the first time. The hard part is that the Freak has no dial; the decoration sits on its rotating hour disc, a working part of the movement. The Blue Enamel’s white gold disc carries Grand Feu enamel by Donzé Cadrans over a sunray guilloché, in the first full-titanium 44mm Freak [ONE], limited to 99 pieces at $89,800. A sand-toned Freak [ONE] Guilloché, also 99 pieces, is $80,000. The most futuristic watch in the room just got the most traditional craft, and it works.

IWC Ingenieur Automatic 50th Anniversary

Fifty years after Gérald Genta redrew the Ingenieur as the SL Ref. 1832, IWC marked the date with two limited editions, launched alongside Genta’s widow, Evelyne, and daughter, Alexia, as we reported. Both trade the usual grid dial for a brushed silver-plated one inspired by a rare 1970s variant, with an “Ingenieur 50” logo at 6 o’clock. The 40mm IW328910 runs the Pellaton-wound Caliber 32111 with a 120-hour reserve for $15,000; the 35mm IW324909 has a display back and the Caliber 47110 for $12,900. Each is limited to 1,150 pieces. The Genta family’s blessing makes these the most credible tributes yet.

Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic

Gae Aulenti’s 1988 Monterey was always a design object first, and the new Monterey Ceramic leans into that. The pebble-shaped, lugless 37mm case is hand-polished zirconium oxide in matte green with yellow hands or glossy black with a white dial and red hands, crowned at 12 o’clock in steel Clous de Paris. Inside, replacing the original quartz, is La Fabrique du Temps’ automatic LFTMA01.02, with an 18k rose gold rotor behind a solid back. Each is $22,900. It is the most charming watch on this list, and the least serious, in the best way.

H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Off-Grid

Moser’s Streamliner Off-Grid is a quartz analog-digital watch, developed with Sequent, that deliberately refuses to be a smartwatch: no notifications, just a split-seconds chronograph, GMT, perpetual calendar, moonphase, sunrise and sunset, an alarm and a 10-word dictionary in 21 languages. The 42.6mm Streamliner case has a small fumé dial above its digital display, in blue or black with red fumé. At US$4,900, or CHF 3,900 before VAT, it was the brand’s first watch sold online, limited to 1,000 per color and on sale only until October 5. Both versions are now listed as sold out. Witty, affordable and gone in days, it is the month’s smartest idea.

Grand Seiko SBGW325 “Arabic Blue”

The SBGW325 “Arabic Blue” revives the Arabic numerals of the 2001 SBGW003, which carried Grand Seiko’s first hand-wound 9S movement, on a deep navy dial inspired by Japanese indigo dyeing. The 37.3mm Zaratsu-polished steel case is 11.7mm thick under a box-shaped sapphire crystal, and the hand-wound 9S64 offers 72 hours of reserve. It ships on a crocodile strap dyed with traditional hon-ai indigo, plus a second, grained leather strap. Limited to 600 pieces at $5,800 and due in October, it is the best value on this list.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Williams Editions

Girard-Perregaux’s first two watches with the Atlassian Williams F1 team take the restrained route. Both are 42mm steel Laureatos with a blue Clous de Paris dial drawn from the FW48 race car, red accents and a small Williams “W” at 12 o’clock. The time-and-date Laureato Williams Edition 42mm runs the slim GP1800 and costs $16,200; the Laureato Chronograph Williams Edition 42mm, in 904L steel, uses the GP3300 and costs $20,900. Neither shouts about racing, which is exactly why they work.

September’s depth went beyond these eight, from A. Lange & Söhne’s Triple Split in platinum to Hublot’s Balloon Dog collaboration with Jeff Koons. If the month proved anything, it is that the best new watches don’t have to forget where they came from. They just have to know what to do with it.
