The people at Hublot in general, and in their research & development department especially, love to strive for the impossible. They cannot help it, as it is part of their DNA, and they shouldn’t either because the only road to achieve the impossible is to innovate. This has already resulted in the most extraordinary watches made from the most exotic materials. With the Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Magic they add another impossible achievement to the books; the creation of vibrant red ceramic.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Magic
It took Hublot four years until they where able to make all the components to create a watch from this new material. It is however much more than just another color of ceramics. Due to its production method this ceramic is much more dense, making it harder, and therefor more scratch resistance than the ceramics used previously. With conventional methods the color pigments that are used to give the ceramic its vibrant color would burn up, and that is why Hublot developed a new manufacturing process in which they combine pressure and heat. Because of its unique approach this process has also been patented.

The first watch to be fitted with a case of this new ceramic is the Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Magic. Inside its vibrant red ceramic case we find Hublot manufacture caliber HUB1242, with is an automatic fly-back chronograph with a column wheel and a 72-hour power reserve. While Hublot choose red as the color for its first limited edition made with this innovative ceramic, they can create it in other colors as well, which promises great things for the future!
