IWC Schaffhausen invited 1,000 guests and journalists from around World to celebrate the launch of the new Pilot’s Watch collection at SIHH in Geneva. In the company of celebrities like Cate Blanchett, Jean Reno, Ewan McGregor, Ronan Keating, sporting legends Boris Becker, Luís Figo and Zinédine Zidane as well as top model Adriana Lima, guests enjoyed an impressive evening topped off with a performance from the renowned Bryan Ferry.
Gathering at Palexpo Hall 1 in Geneva’s exhibition complex, it was nearly unrecognizable as guests from all over the world gathered on board the replica aircraft carrier IWC 12. The spectacular backdrop was promoting the newly launched Pilot’s Watches from IWC, primarily the TOP GUN and TOP GUN Miramar formations, which are devoted to the distinguished elite flying school. It was specifically this theme that set the tone for the entire celebration.
The new Pilot’s Watches from IWC were displayed in a walk-in control tower, which provided the perfect setting and an ideal presentation space. Throughout the entire “TOP GUN” evening the spotlight focused firmly on the world of flying. The first course of dinner was served on trays from high-rise trolleys, just as it would be on board an aircraft carrier canteen and The Swiss Top Secret Drum Corps performed another of their breathtaking performances. The Corps, which is regarded as the most inventive drumming troupe in the world, appeared in uniforms specially made for the affair, and the extraordinary maneuvering left the audience in awe.
IWC also presented a riveting production film dedicated to the engineering as well as to the craftsmanship and precision that went into the new TOP GUN watches. The short film ingeniously interweaves animations from the Pilot’s Watch fleet with preparation sequences from the famous Top Gun elite flying school, which has served as the motivation for the sub line in the Pilot’s Watch family since 2006. After all, the pilots who get the chance to perfect their flying skills here really are the very finest in the class. Together in the pursuit for excellence, the passion for technology and functionality, this dynamic footage reflects the history of the Pilot’s Watches and IWC’s steadfast dedication to it.
The Swiss watch company, IWC Schaffhausen has been creating watches of lasting value since 1868. The company has gained an international reputation based on a passion for innovative solutions and technical ingenuity and the TOP GUN is no exception.
