A closer look at the new, unexpected, and incredibly exclusive Patek Philippe Ref. 5373P-001 Split-Seconds Monopusher Chronograph

As Patek Philippe recently unveiled a dynamic range of new timepieces, perhaps one of the most unexpected and complicated chronographs to debut is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5373P-001, a split-seconds monopusher chronograph with a perpetual calendar. As the first left-hander chronograph in the brand’s recent history, the 5373P-001 is an extremely exclusive timepiece specially crafted for left-handers and high watchmaking connoisseurs.

The incredibly rare timepiece sports a range of dynamic, unusual design arrangements as it features the “destro” orientation, which places the crown and pushers at nine o’clock rather than the traditional placement at 3 o’clock. The 38.3mm platinum case houses the manual wound caliber CHR-27-525 PS Q, which stands as the thinnest split-seconds chronograph movement with a perpetual calendar ever constructed — a technical feat that remains at the forefront of Patek’s innovative complications.

At the surface, the 5373P-001 is also quite unique with the charcoal-colored dial with the brand’s signature black gradation, contrasted with bold red varnished chronograph hands, adhering to Patek’s sportier repertoire of watches. The watch is fitted with a black calfskin, embossed strap with a hint of red stitching to complement the dial. While Patek certainly launched exciting new updates this month, like the new Nautili, the 5373P-001 is an unparalleled haute complication.
