One of the prettiest Baselworld 2014 novelties I’ve come across so far…..and not to mention innovative, creative and complicated – is the first ladies timepiece created by Christophe Claret, The Margot.

The Margot “predicts” the answer to the question “Does he love me?” by removing petals from view on the dial and displaying an answer.  Words appear at the bottom of the dial, to let the wearer know the prediction, whether it reads Un peu (a little), beacoup (a lot), passionnement (passionately), a la folie (madly) or pas du tout (not at all), it is mesmerizing to see.  The pusher on the side of the timepiece starts the whimsical dance of petals on the dial, and also sets off a delicate chime.

The Margot by Christophe Claret is powered by and EMT17, automatic-winding movement with a 72 hour power reserve.  In addition to the “He loves me…he loves me not” Effeuiller la marguerite on the dial, The Margot also displays hours and minutes on the center dial.

The round case is 42.50mm and is shown here in 18k white gold with 68 baguette diamonds, totalling 5.2 carats.  The case back is equally stunning, with a view of the spinning flower carved rotor, with a central cabochon, along with eight colored precious stones representing a feeling – hope, passion, tenderness and revealing a bit more artistry on this timepiece. The dial is blue mother of pearl, and features three pear-shaped diamonds decorating the dial.

Fitted with an elegant white alligator leather strap a white gold clasp, The Christophe Claret Margot will be available as part of a limited series of 20 special pieces.
