For Zenith this week at LVMH Watch Week 2024, we’re getting some sporty new surprises as the brand reintroduces the highly anticipated El Primero Triple Calendar to its prestigious Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar collection — alongside two new models to its Chronomaster Sport Line.

THE EL PRIMERO TRIPLE CALENDAR

Zenith welcomes back the much-anticipated El Primero Triple Calendar in its Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar collection, featuring a brand-new caliber that combines cutting-edge performance with timeless design. This triple calendar chronograph has been an iconic variation of the El Primero for over half a century, known for its clear and balanced display of information.

The Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar represents the culmination of 55 years of innovation and design refinement — actually, the original El Primero caliber was initially conceived to include triple calendar and moon phase functions right from its launch in 1969. While 25 prototypes were created in 1970, featuring a round case akin to the A386, the success of the core chronograph version led to a delay in introducing the triple calendar function.

The 1/10th of a second chronograph remains prominent and legible, while the complete calendar seamlessly integrates into the design without cluttering the dial. Days of the week and months are displayed in symmetrical windows above the chronograph counters, with the date window positioned traditionally at 04:30. The moon phase display is elegantly placed alongside the 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock.

The 38mm steel case, inspired by the A386 from 1969, creates a vintage feel with a bezel-less construction and a raised, domed sapphire crystal. The ingenious design allows for the incorporation of the complete calendar and moon phase mechanism without altering the case’s proportions.

The Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar offers two distinctive dial versions: a sporty silver-white “panda” opaline dial with black counters and a luxurious opaline slate-grey dial with silver-white counters. Both feature rose gold-tone applied baton markers and hands, accentuating the polished rose gold moon on a metallic blue sunray-patterned Zenith. An exclusive sunburst olive-green dial variant is available for the Boutique Edition, found only in Zenith boutiques. Each version matches the calendar wheels to the dial colors.

Powering this timepiece is the El Primero 3610, a variant of the latest generation El Primero automatic high-frequency chronograph caliber. Operating at 5 Hz (36,000 VpH), it delivers a true 1/10th of a second chronograph function and maintains a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. The sapphire display back offers a clear view of the contemporary movement architecture, featuring a blue column wheel and an open rotor marked with the Zenith star.

THE CHRONOMASTER SPORT

In just three years since its introduction, the ZENITH Chronomaster Sport has become the pinnacle of Zenith’s relentless pursuit of precision, performance, and design, inheriting a rich legacy of Zenith chronographs that predates the groundbreaking El Primero’s debut in 1969. The award-winning Chronomaster Sport now showcases a bold chromatic transformation with a striking green ceramic bezel and dial, accompanied by the introduction of the line’s integrated rubber strap.

For Zenith’s exclusive boutiques, a truly exceptional iteration of the Chronomaster Sport emerges. This version marries the 1/10th of a second chronograph function with expert gem-setting, resulting in the first-ever bejeweled Chronomaster Sport, crafted in rose gold and adorned with earthly gemstones and cosmic metal.

The core collection of the Chronomaster Sport welcomes two distinct editions, each making a powerful statement. For the first time in the Chronomaster Sport core lineup, the engraved 1/10th of a second bezel, positioned atop the 41mm steel case with pump-style pushers, is crafted from vibrant green ceramic. Paired with a three-link steel bracelet featuring an adjustable clasp, this edition explores a new facet of sportiness through its striking chromatic choices.

This interplay of tones and contrasts extends to the dial, cloaked in a matching green lacquer mirroring the ceramic bezel’s hue. Maintaining its identity as a Chronomaster, the dial showcases Zenith’s signature tricolour counters in elegant shades of grey and blue. Even the date wheel harmonizes with the dial’s color. Two versions are available: one with the three-link stainless steel bracelet and another with ZENITH’s newly developed rubber strap designed exclusively for the Chronomaster Sport. Crafted from durable FKM rubber, the strap seamlessly integrates with the case while matching the bezel’s color palette.

At its core, the Chronomaster Sport is powered by the latest El Primero caliber, known as the El Primero 3600, continuing the lineage of Zenith’s chronographs. Operating at a high frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 VpH), the movement provides a true 1/10th of a second indication and offers an extended power reserve of 60 hours. The sapphire display back provides an unobstructed view of the movement’s contemporary architecture, revealing a sleeker and more open design, featuring a blue column wheel and an open rotor marked with Zenith’s iconic five-pointed star.
