Today at Watches And Wonders in Hong Kong, IWC Schaffhausen launched its new Portofino Midsize collection. The collection, which celebrates its thirty year anniversary in 2014, receives diamond embellished dials and new measurements, and will appeal to modern tastes.
Trends have changed quite a bit since 1984, which saw collectors put art deco pieces aside for more classic designs. The Portofino Midsize collection perfectly captured the mood when it first came out that year, but IWC seems well aware that its younger, and more international client base, is looking for anything but subtle designs.
The new collection includes the Portofino Midsize Automatic Moon Phase and the Portofino Midsize Automatic Day & Night, available in seven different versions, ten different Portofino Midsize Automatic models with or without a diamond-set bezel, and three Portofino Automatic versions featuring 40-millimetre cases set with precious stones.
To mark the launch of the Portofino Midsize collection, photographer Peter Lindbergh created an impressive series of exclusive pictures, featuring brand ambassadors such as actresses Emily Blunt, Zhou Xun, and Cate Blanchett. For more [link].
