Boiling hot or ice-cold? Whatever your preference, Ulysse Nardin is now offering both of these extremes in two new versions of their Freak X model. Introduced in 2019, the Freak X took the legacy of this extraordinary Ulysse Nardin collection to new heights by offering many of its highlights into a smaller and more affordable package. Fitted into a 43mm case, we find caliber UN-230. As always, with the Freak makes its carrousel-type movement the balance wheel an intricate part of telling time. Prominently placed on the dial side as part of the minute hand, is it quite the eyecatcher. For optimum performance, Ulysse Nardin made it out of silicon and fitted it with micro-blades and nickel flyweights for stabilization.

It features a red and black color theme that even includes the case. Here Ulysse Nardin used a combination of red, marbled epoxy resin with ultra-light carbon fiber. It results in a material that resembles fresh lava running down from an erupting volcano. While very light and scratch resistance, an additional advantage is that each of the cases of the Freak X Magma is unique. Ulysse Nardin made this watch with an eye for detail, as the black leather strap looks like cooled-down magma.

No wonder that white is the most dominant color on this model, from the dial, down to the strap. The latter is made from leather with a rubber lining for optimum wearing comfort. The case is crafted from titanium with a matte finish, while dark blue was chosen for the hour markers. With these two models adds Ulysse Nardin even more desirable options to the Freak X collection.
