IWC Launches New Chronograph In Collaboration With Mercedes-AMG

For over 17 years, IWC has enjoyed a very fruitful partnership with Mercedes-AMG. One of the reasons they work so well together is because the DNA of both companies is so aligned. Unique is also that the collaboration includes not only the road cars but also the Formula 1 car of Mercedes-AMG. In reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton has IWC also found a natural ambassador that wears their watches with the same flair and passion as he drives. To continue this legacy, IWC is launching the Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "AMG."

Throwback Thursday: Rolex Ref. 6269 “Le Hibou Grand-Duc”

Gemstone set Daytona's made from precious metal are nothing new today, but in the 1980s, it was quite trailblazing for Rolex to offer its sports models in such a configuration. When you like that, it doesn't get much better than this Ref. 6269 "Le Hibou Grand-Duc." Made for the French market, it features on the caseback the French import marks and Rolex France's logo. Its name, meaning "the owl Grand Duke" is also inspired by the image shown in the French import mark.

Zenith Sets, Once Again, The Gold Standard For Chronographs

When you say Zenith to a watch enthusiast, he or she cannot help but immediately think of El Primero. This automatic chronograph movement was groundbreaking when launched in 1969, but as Zenith has continued developing it, it is still as enticing today. Because of that is has become one of the gold standards for chronograph movements. It was even for years good enough for Rolex to power its iconic Daytona before they developed a chronograph movement of its own. Earlier this year, Zenith launched the new Chronomaster Sport, a watch that seems to go head-to-head with exactly the Daytona. Until now, it was only available in stainless steel, but that changes with the launch of the pink gold model.

They continue this tradition by renewing their commitment to SORAI - Save Our Rhino Africa India. This great cause, founded by Kevin Pietersen, is committed to protecting the rhino population. This is unfortunately much needed as the rhino is well on its way towards extinction. SORAI helps by supporting Care for Wild, the largest rhino sanctuary in the world, focusing on rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing rhinos orphaned by poaching.

Watch of the Week: Hublot Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic

At Hublot, the colors seem to become ever more vibrant in regard to their ceramic models. With the launch of the Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic, the brand has proven that it can also produce this primary color in the challenging material that ceramic is. As ceramic is made at very high temperatures, most color pigments tend to burn up. That is why for decades, only white and black could be produced. Hublot was the first to introduce more vibrant colors in 2018, thanks to a newly developed process to create ceramics under pressure at lower temperatures.

Zenith Takes The Defy Into The Extreme

With the launch of the new Defy, Zenith is taking this collection into the extreme, and quite literally so. As founding partner and official timekeeper of Extreme E, they are sending their watches off the grid. This new and exciting off-road championship will challenge both the drivers as well as their machines but also adds something unique into the mix, as all the cars are electric.

Hublot’s Rainbow Of Colors

Especially in recent years, Hublot has been a brand in which color plays a very important role. They developed both ceramic and sapphire in vibrant colors that weren't possible before. For the brand, it doesn't stop there as they also love to play with colored gemstones, in particular creating the so-called 'rainbow-watches.' When it comes to these type of timepieces, Hublot has created quite a name for itself, making it a benchmark in the industry in this category. They also continue to strengthen their position, as this year, they already introduced three new watches in this category.

Zenith Colors Defy 21 Ultrablue

After the Defy 21 Ultraviolet, which Zenith introduced last year, the brand is continuing its quest for vibrant colors with the new Defy 21 Ultrablue. This combines in an exciting way past and present, as blue also played an important role in the history of the El Primero. When launched in 1969, it was also this color that underscored how unique that watch was. When we fast forward to 2021, that hasn't changed a bit.

TAG Heuer Launches Stunning New Version Of Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T

The Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T is a watch unlike any other. While it may be the least expensive, Swiss-made flying tourbillon with a chronograph on the market today, you wouldn't know. No corners are cut in creating it, as is evident from the finishing, wearing comfort, and that the movement is Chronometer-certified as well. Therefore, it cannot come as a surprise that the watch has been quite a success after its introduction in 2016, and now a new addition joins the line-up.

Watch of the Week: Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium

When it comes to historically important events, Longines was often in the middle of it. In particular, when it comes to aviation history. As the concept of aircraft matured in the 1920s, planes became more common, powerful, and able to fly higher as well as longer distances. This also meant the introduction of new problems, like how to determine your exact location when airborne. To do this a very precise watch was an absolute necessity, as time was used to navigate. In 1929 Navy Captain Phillip Van Horn Weems teamed up with Longines to develop a special system for a watch that would make it easier to navigate. While initially created for use at sea, it was quickly adopted by aviators alike. One of those aviators was Charles A. Lindbergh, who was in 1927 the first man to fly non-stop from the North-America to Europe. He later on also designed a watch with Longines, which became the legendary Hour Angle, aimed at making navigation in aircraft easier and more reliable.

IWC Reintroduces 1990s Ceramic Icon As Limited Edition

Not all icons are born as one. Some need a period in which their true potential is recognized before they gain their intended status. This is most certainly true for the IWC Fliegerchronograph ref.3705, which the brand launched in 1994. Already in the 1980s was IWC a pioneer in the field of ceramic, using it, for example, for their Da Vinci perpetual calendar chronograph, another one of their icons. The ref.3705 was the first Fliegerchronograph to be fitted with a ceramic case. It resulted in a watch that had a very clean and utilitarian look. As it was never produced in vast numbers, the watch became a rarity known mainly by die-hard IWC collectors.

Zenith Defy 21 Urban Jungle; A Ceramic Survival Watch For City Life And Outdoor Adventures

Can a watch be everything at the same time? Zenith is making a plausible case that it can, with the new Defy 21 Urban Jungle. For the brand, this model proves to be a versatile canvas that can be lavishly decorated with gemstones, like the previously released Pink Edition, or be down to earth like the Land Rover Limited Edition. Two things that even the more extreme watches in the collection share are their superb performance and strong Zenith-DNA.
