This years edition of Baselworld was also the scene where quite a few stunning watches for ladies where introduced. Only a couple of years ago quartz still ruled supreme, but today most of the leading watch brands have extensive collections of mechanical ladies watches. That doesn't make it any easier for us to select our favourites, but it does make it all the more fun!

Baselworld is always a place full of surprizes, some large and some small. One of those big surprises is the Blancpain Villeret Tourbillon Volant Heure Sautante Minute Rétrograde. This watch combines a jumping hour with retrograde minutes and a unique flying tourbillon.

It was 1993 when Chopard made a very interesting move: they expanded their highly successful Happy Diamonds collection, which up until then was made up out of elegant gold, dress watches, with the Happy Sport Collection. These where chic, sporty watches, encased in steel and made for an active lifestyle, yet still with the signature moving diamonds between two sapphire crystals above the dial. It is hardly surprising that they also became a big success.

Ever since Chopard introduced their very first manufacture caliber in 1996, they have become quite a force in watchmaking, and the L.U.C. Perpetual Chrono is one of their most tempting offerings.

When Chopard's co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele introduced the very first Mille Miglia collection of the brand in 1988, he made the remark that "People say that lovers of fine cars also have a great weakness for fine timepieces and vice versa." This seems to be indeed true and also hasn't changed over the past three decades. No surprise that many watch brands celebrate this unique symbiosis with extraordinary watches!
