The latest edition of Baselworld confirmed the obvious: two-tone is dead! Where generally at least a few brand carry the steel-gold variety, now there were no prominent watches offered in this combination. The exception to this rule is, however, Rolex, who introduced the Sky-Dweller not only in steel but also in steel-gold.

Will people ever grow bored of tourbillons? Probably not, as they are still the preferred complication of many collectors. However, it is not only the complication itself that keeps the attention, but it is also the seemingly never-ending creativity of the watch brands who continue to dream up enticing new versions of it.

If there is one place to scope out new trends in watches, it is Baselworld! Sometimes you see a specific complication emerge with different brands at the same time. At other times cases or movement designs seem to follow a similar trend. This year there were surprisingly many watches with a blue dial!

One of the highlights of Baselworld this year was the Hublot MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis Tourbillon. It might come as a surprise, but this watch houses the brand's very first multi-axis tourbillon. One thing that Hublot never seem to run out of is creativity, and when you combine that with having a completely vertically integrated manufacture at your fingertips amazing things can happen.

The Omega Speedmaster is one of those watches that doesn't need an introduction. Forever known as the "Moonwatch" it has carved out quite a niche for itself in the market. Rightfully, this comes with quite a few limited editions, of which the new Speedmaster Apollo XVII 45th Anniversary is one of the latest.

The essence of a watch is keeping accurate time, but that has never stopped watchmakers turning them into more. At Baselworld we were delighted by a few watches that delighted us by motion, music and light!

For what is perhaps the most recognized luxury brand in the world, Rolex latest offerings at Baselworld have been nothing but modest, and with that their line-up of new models in might have been the strongest in recent years.

That Art of Fusion is still the basis of everything that Hublot does, is proven once more with the new Big Bang Unico Sapphire. The progress the brand has made in the field of sapphire watch cases now takes on a new height with colored sapphire.
