SIHH 2015: Introducing the Vacheron Constantin Harmony Collection

In a week dominated by headlines of the new, SIHH’s oldest member showed that vintage was very much au gout du jour, with a brilliant re-interpretation of its Harmony line. The Manufacture Vacheron Constantin turns 260 years old this year, but showed no intention of slowing down with an array of sublime novelties, including an eight-piece strong Harmony collection, featuring four new in-house movements.

In a week dominated by headlines of the new, SIHH’s oldest member showed that vintage was very much au gout du jour, with the new Harmony collection...

We will bring you all the latest on the full collection, however we’ll focus right now on one of our early favourites in the vintage inspired Harmony Chronograph with pulsometer dial – a feature that was used by doctors to measure patients’ heart rates, but grew a cult-like following amonst collectors for its unique look.

To say that the design is directly is inspired from one of the brand’s 1920s chronographs is – for once – an understatement. Vacheron Constantin achieved what most set out to, which is to create an authentic hommage to its first ever chronograph, made in 1928. The cushion-shaped case is back and has been beautifully redesigned to house the ultra-thin self-winding Caliber 3500 – which at just 5.20 mm thick – sets a new slimness record.

On the wrist, the Harmony Chronograph with pulsometer looks clean and simple; just the way you want a watch with so much information on the dial. So far, it’s been the hardest watch to take off – not because of technical difficulties – but simply because we wanted to leave with it.
