The power reserve of a mechanical watch is not often a topic of discussion, that while in everyday life it can be an essential aspect of how you enjoy your timepiece. Hublot is one of the brands that has always acknowledged this and incorporates this way of thinking throughout its collection.

Take, for example, the recently introduced Big Bang Integral, which is powered by caliber HUB1280. This flyback chronograph has played an essential role in the immense popularity of the Big Bang. Part of this can be contributed to its power reserve of 72 hours. Hublot has purposely developed this manufacture movement with such a generous power reserve, as they know that their clients are very likely to own at least several luxury watches and tend to switch for different occasions. As a result, a generous power reserve makes it more likely that the watch is still running when it is put back on the wrist.

Even with more complicated watches, which usually have a tendency to use more power as well, Hublot has been able to achieve power reserves, which are far more than usual. The MP-09 was the very first bi-axis tourbillon that Hublot introduced. This complication can be quite power-hungry, yet Hublot was able to give the manual wind movement a power reserve of five days. Another example of longer than average power reserves that are not explicitly advertised as such can be found in the Techframe Ferrari Tourbillon Chronograph. This is a watch that Hublot developed together with Ferrari to mark its 70th anniversary. Despite featuring a chronograph, as well as a flying tourbillon, does it offer a power reserve of 115 hours.

For some watches has Hublot made a generous power reserve the main complication, as well as a visual delight. In the last few months, the brand has released two new versions of the MP-11, one in red ceramic, the other in green Saxem, a unique translucent material. Both are fitted with a movement that features 7-series coupled mainspring barrels, which give it a power reserve of 14-days. Known as a brand that likes to push the limits, Hublot has achieved even an even higher power reserve with other members of the MP-collection. For the MP-07, they used nine mainspring barrels linked in series, which have the watch a power reserve of no less than 42-days. The MP-05 takes this to an even higher level, adding two more mainspring barrels, for a total of 11, which gives a power reserve of 50-days. So wither part of the backbone collection of the brand, an exquisite complicated creation, or specially designed to excel in this particular part, the power reserve is always top of mind at Hublot.
