Oris Reimagines the ProPilot Calibre 111: A Sharper Pilot’s Watch With 10 Days of Power

Oris has redesigned the ProPilot Calibre 111 with a 43mm steel case, textured black or green dials, and its 240-hour, hand-wound Calibre 111.

Oris Reimagines the ProPilot Calibre 111: A Sharper Pilot’s Watch With 10 Days of Power

Oris has redesigned the Oris ProPilot Calibre 111, and the brief was refinement rather than reinvention. The new watch arrives in a 43mm stainless steel case with the collection’s jet-engine fluted bezel, a textured and vertically brushed dial in black or green, and the brand’s ten-day, hand-wound Calibre 111 still beating inside. Oris calls it “a fresh take on a 21st century icon,” and four new references are now listed on its site.

The Haute Minute

The redesigned Oris ProPilot Calibre 111 pairs a 43mm stainless steel case and textured black or green dial with Oris' hand-wound Calibre 111, which runs for 240 hours. Oris lists it at $7,200 on leather and $7,400 on bracelet.

The ProPilot has long been the Hölstein brand’s aviation line, a tool watch built around oversized numerals, a big crown, and the kind of legibility you want when glancing down mid-task. Oris pitches the update squarely at “everyday adventurers,” and in my view that is the right audience for a watch that can sit in a drawer over a long weekend and still be running on Monday.

The most visible change is the dial. Oris pairs a vertically brushed surface with textured sections, a mix of finishes that gives the black and green versions more depth under changing light. Applied numerals and Super-LumiNova-filled hands keep the cockpit-instrument look intact, with subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock, the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, and a date window that, in Oris’ official images, now sits at 6 o’clock.

The case is multi-piece stainless steel with a sapphire crystal domed on both sides and anti-reflective coating inside. It is water-resistant to 10 bar, the lugs take a 20mm strap, and a screwed caseback with a sapphire window shows the movement.

Then there is the engine. Oris describes Calibre 111 as “our landmark hand-wound movement,” and the numbers explain why. It runs for 240 hours, or ten full days, at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and measures 34mm across. Beyond hours, minutes, and seconds, it brings a date with corrector, a fine timing device, stop-seconds, and the brand’s patented non-linear power reserve indication.

That non-linear display is the clever bit. Rather than spacing the scale evenly, Oris spreads out the final stretch so the indicator “shows remaining power with ever greater accuracy as the moment to rewind the watch approaches.” It is a small piece of user-experience thinking, and it makes a ten-day reserve practical rather than a spec-sheet boast.

Straps, Bracelet, and Price

Each dial comes on either a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet, and both close with Oris’ “LIFT” folding clasp, a quick-release design the brand singles out as one of the watch’s signatures. The watch ships in what Oris calls a special luxury wooden presentation box, with a two-year warranty that extends to five years free through MyOris registration.

My pick is the green dial on the bracelet. The brushed and textured finish reads warmer in green, and the steel bracelet makes the most of a case meant to be worn every day, not just on travel days. Black on leather remains the purist’s option, and it is hard to argue with the contrast.

Oris lists the ProPilot Calibre 111 at $7,200 on leather and $7,400 on the bracelet in the United States, with all four references marked new on Oris’s ProPilot collection page. For a manufacture movement with ten days of autonomy, it is one of the more compelling arguments in its price bracket, and a reminder that the most meaningful updates are sometimes the quiet ones.
