The Astronomia Solar Bitcoin symbolizes the epitome of haute horlogerie and Jacob and Co.’s watchmaking expertise. This unprecedented embodiment of premier watchmaking is composed of DLC titanium and is limited to 25 pieces. The Astronomia Solar Bitcoin should be seen as a symbolic tribute to the world of cryptocurrencies and to its pioneering and leading example, Bitcoin.
The exclusive and compact JCAM19 caliber allows for smaller case dimensions and redesigned proportions. Astronomia is composed of 444 of the highest-grade components and features two revolving platforms. One comprises the three main arms and subsidiary arms of the caliber, while the other is the microchip-designed main plate, that serves as their spectacular, rotating backdrop. The rotating platform of the JCAM19 caliber completes a rotation around the center of the watch in 10 minutes. It simultaneously drives the movement’s background in a counterclockwise direction in 11 minutes, adding further animation and complexity to this unique take on metaphorical watchmaking.
The bottom plate of caliber JCAM19 has been designed like micro-chip and circled by keywords that describe the crypto universe: a “peer to peer” system, regulated by “Blockchain,” where “Bitcoin” is the founding and leading “decentralized digital currency.”
The one-minute flying tourbillon of the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin features a delicately decorated cage that encapsulates the balance wheel, hairspring and escape wheel. This open-worked, black DLC titanium cage is only secured from underneath, which makes it a flying tourbillon.
There are several literal and metaphorical homages to the world of cryptocurrency throughout the watch. The rocket, complete with flaming reactor and Bitcoin sign is symbolic of the crypto currency reaching for the moon.
The Astronomia features vertical and rotating movement as well as a Jacob-cut diamond, a Jacob-cut orange sapphire and a rotating Earth. This treasure of modern horlogerie is limited to 25 pieces and can be purchased with any cryptocurrency of choice. To learn more, head to the Jacob & Co. website.
