Chronoswiss Takes Blue To The Next Level With The Flying Grand Regulator Open Gear ReSec

There is no denying, blue is currently one of the hottest colors in watchmaking. Not as a fleeting trend, but as one of the new standard colors, next to silver and black. But there are watches with blue and blue watches. Chronoswiss shows that it is genuinely committed to this color with the Flying Grand Regulator Open Gear ReSec, which takes being blue to a whole other level.

This starts with the 44-mm case on this limited edition of 50 pieces, whose design is so typical Chronoswiss. It is crafted from stainless with a Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) coating applied to it. Usually these coatings are black in watchmaking, but for the Flying Grand Regulator Open Gear ReSec Chronoswiss opted for an electric blue variety. This coating not only creates a stunning effect but also has all the other advantages that DLC offers. With a hardness of 4.500 Vickers, it is extremely scratch-resistant, which ensures that the attractive looks of this Chronoswiss will remain.

It doesn’t stop there because also the hand-guiloched dial is nothing but blue. What is quite an accomplishment is that Chronoswiss succeeded in maintaining the readability of the watch, despite its ton-sur-ton appearance.  Crafted from 42-pieces is the dial complex to make, but these efforts pay up. There is a lot of depth to it, and by showing part of the geartrain does Chronoswiss also create a visual connection to the movement underneath the dial. There we find caliber C.301, an automatic movement that runs at 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. It not only supports the regulator layout of the watch but also displays the seconds by means of a retrograde hand. This adds another appealing feature to an already stunning watch.

Chronoswiss doesn’t even leave it at that when it comes to blue. The typical onion crown also features an electric blue DLC-coating, and so does the winding rotor. Even the strap is something special, because it is not only blue but made from the part of the back of a crocodile, so that it shows the typical horn structure. A more than suitable finishing touch on a watch that proofs that there is no such thing as too much blue!
