The Results Are In & Christie’s Geneva Luxury Week Sets Records
Christie’s Autumn Luxury Week in Geneva concluded with astonishing results, totaling CHF 125,367,440 (approximately US$139.9 million), leaving an indelible mark on the world of luxury auctions. The standout highlight was the remarkable Bleu Royal, a dazzling jewel that fetched an astounding CHF 39,505,000 (approximately US$44 million), securing its place as the most expensive jewel sold at auction in 2023.
This exceptional diamond, the subject of a brisk 7-minute bidding frenzy, has now found a new home in a private collection after 40 years. The Magnificent Jewels auction contributed significantly to this success, achieving a total of CHF 69,888,310 (approximately US$77.7 million) and attracting bidders from 37 countries. Notable gems included a magnificent 8.77-carat fancy intense pink diamond and a 21.88-carat Burmese cushion-shaped ruby, both fetching impressive prices. Furthermore, the heart brilliant-cut, F color diamond weighing 55.75 carats and the 30.02-carat heart brilliant-cut, D-color diamond were also among the stars of the auction.
In addition to the incredible jewels, Christie’s Watch Department also shone brightly, hosting two live auctions that collectively amassed CHF 55,476,610 (approximately US$62 million). These auctions featured an extraordinary selection of timepieces, including the Grande & Petite Sonnerie No.1 by Philippe Dufour and the iconic Rolex ref. 1675 GMT Master worn by Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now.

Passion for Time, a private collection of timepieces, achieved CHF 37,930,320 (approximately US$42.4 million), while the Rare Watches sale realized CHF 17,548,810 (approximately US$19.6 million), with several exceptional watches, including the George Daniels Anniversary “No. 00” and the diamond Jumbo Nautilus, captivating collectors.
