The new version of the Bathyscaphe, which was reinterpreted last year by Blancpain, is now equipped with a new self-winding Blancpain F385 Manufacture movement featuring a Flyback function which enables the wearer to reset and instantly restart the chronograph by pressing the pusher and avoid damaging the timepiece. The new Bathyscaphe was unveiled for Baselworld 2014 by Blancpain.
The new 43mm Bathyscaphe case is shown here in brushed black ceramic with a black dial with lines and dots serving as hour markers and the date window at 4 o’clock. The dial features a sunburst finish and snailed chronograph counters. The rectangular hands on the dial are modeled after the original Bathyscaphe’s of the 1950’s. The Bathyscaphe also features a black ceramic bezel with hour markers, and it is filled with a patented metal alloy for ultimate scratch resistance.
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Flyback Chronograph features a sapphire crystal and case back and is water-resistant to depth of 300 meters. Fitted with a black NATO fabric or canvas strap, The new Bathyscaphe is a must have for divers and collectors alike, and a wonderful addition to the Fifty Fathoms Collection.
