An inside look at the new art and timepiece exhibition at Vacheron Constantin’s New York Flagship boutique: The Anatomy Of Beauty.

Ahead of the magical dinner, Nina Dennis made sure to explain how each and every course was inspired by a particular Vacheron Constantin collection.

Vacheron Constantin's Traditionelle Complete Calendar gets a contemporary revamp while honoring 18th century watchmaking tradition.

Vacheron Constantin is a brand that dedicates a lot of time and resources to the preservation of fine artistic crafts. Combined with their passion for making highly complex watches, this results in one-of-a-kind timepieces like the Les Cabinotiers Grande Complication Bacchus. As the name already indicates, it is dedicated to the Roman god of vines and wine. The engraver and gem setter worked in tandem to execute this theme in great detail. The bezel, lugs, and sides of the case were engraved with vines in a bas relief, where the gem setter placed the cabochon cut rubies representing the grapes. The result is as mesmerizing as it is breathtaking.

Earlier this year, Vacheron Constantin gave center stage to the complete calendar with a new model in the Traditionnelle collection. This classic proposition now gets a more contemporary touch as the brand launches a so-called openface version. To achieve this, Vacheron Constantin reworked the dial and made it from sapphire crystal. As a result, part of the levers and gear train that make the complete calendar function are now visible. This usually is not that interesting to see, as the only moment of motion is around midnight each day. For Vacheron Constantin, motion is not needed to create something spectacular.

Until March of 2022, Vacheron Constantin is celebrating the artistry, inheritance, and perpetual pulse of the City of New York, past and present, through its new exhibition “Celebrations.”

Tradition has always been an essential aspect of Vacheron Constantin. As one of the oldest watch brands in Switzerland, its heritage is as impressive as it is imposing. With literally centuries of experience, they know all the finesses to make some of the most refined timepieces in the world. The new Traditionnelle Complete Calendar is the perfect example of this. In a timeless way, Vacheron Constantin presents a watch that combines effortlessly past, present, and future in a single creation.

Johannes Vermeer was a Dutch painter of the 17th century who was known to be able to capture light as no other artist could. He had a fondness for household scenes, which he painted in an intimate, lifelike style. While only 36 paintings of his hand are known today, some of them are amongst the world's most famous works of art. While many are familiar with his masterpieces "View of Delft" or "The Milkmaid," they are both surpassed in popularity by the "Girl with a Pearl Earring." This painting shows elegance, unlike any other. That's why it was also a daunting task for Vacheron Constantin to recreate it on one side of their Les Cabinotiers Westminster Sonnerie at the request of a discerning connoisseur.

Today, Luxury watchmaker Vacheron Constantin unveils its two 150-piece limited-edition Overseas Sport Everest watches—one Dual Time and one Chronograph.

The Overseas collection from Vacheron Constantin is gaining in popularity. This is not so surprising as it combines the looks of an attractive sports watch with the refinement of a dress watch. How potent this combination is, becomes especially clear with the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin. Vacheron Constantin opted for a traditional dial layout of this complication, with a subdial for the day, date, and month and a moon phase display on a rotating disc. Combining this with bold hands and hour markers and a chapter ring utilizing a sportive font for the 5-minute indication perfectly balances the piece.

Exciting times for Vacheron Constantin, as the brand opens a brand new flagship boutique in the heart of New York City. Located at 28 East 57th Street, the two-story boutique serves multiple purposes. It is not only a point of sale but also a place to submerge oneself in the 265-year-old history of the brand. For this, Vacheron Constantin has dedicated a significant amount of the 4,500 square feet of floor space. There is an exhibition area that changes from time to time, displaying unique pieces from the brand's own historic collection based in Geneva.

The American 1921 is without a doubt one of the most charismatic watches ever made. With its square case, the crown on the top left corner, and a dial turned half a quarter to the left, it is unlike any other watch. Like no other timepiece, it represents the Roaring Twenties yet hasn't lost any of its appeal a century later. To mark this unique anniversary, Vacheron Constantin has taken upon itself to make a faithful recreation of the original American 1921. The brand only made 24 of them in their year of launch, of which one resides in Vacheron Constantin's private collection.

One trend that remained in 2020 is that ladies' watches are no longer smaller men's watches with diamonds. More and more brands continued to strengthen their line-up in this category, often with vast amounts of creativity. The quartz movements are also not the standard anymore, as mechanical movements are becoming increasingly more popular in this category. The following watches are among our favorites of this year.

While no official standards are indicating when a watch can be called (ultra-)thin, it is reasonably easy to pass your judgment about it. The heights of both the movement and the watch itself are common knowledge for most watches, and can therefore be compared to the record-holders in a specific category. Especially in recent years thin movements, and watches, have become en vogue again, as many people realized that in a sense they represent the nec plus ultra of the watch industry. Watches like the Bulgari Octo Finissimo also showed that it is not only classic dress watches that can benefit from this. Even the cool-factor of a modern-looking watch for every day, and every occasion, increases significantly when powered by an ultra-thin movement. As one of the most esteemed names in watchmaking has Vacheron Constantin the ability to create some of the most complicated mechanical watches in the world. Fortunately for us, that is also what they like to do. With the Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Split-Seconds Chronograph “Tempo” they present us with a watch from which the list of complications reads as the menu, as there are so many. Next to a tourbillon and a minute repeater, does this Vacheron Constantin also feature a split-second chronograph, perpetual calendar, retrograde moon phase, second timezone, power reserve indicator, equation of time, as well as the sunrise and sunset times. It even tells the duration of the day and night.
