Dress watches

For a slim watch that works with tailoring and evening wear, the rectangular Cartier Tank Must and Longines Mini DolceVita are the most versatile starting points. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duetto adds a second dial on the reverse side of the case.

Everyday icons

For one watch to wear every day, the Rolex Lady-Datejust, Chanel J12, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 34 and Patek Philippe Twenty~4 are instantly recognizable designs on bracelets built for daily wear.

Sports watches

The Tudor Black Bay One 31 offers a robust steel sports watch at a manufacturer price under $5,000. At the other extreme, the ultralight Richard Mille RM 07-04 was built for professional athletes.

How we chose

We picked current models from each brand’s catalog in 2026 and checked every reference and U.S. price on the manufacturer’s official website on October 1, 2026. Where a brand does not publish a price, or we couldn’t confirm a current U.S. price for that exact model, we say so rather than estimate. Availability varies by boutique, and some models have waiting lists.
