The Geneva International Motor Show is gearing up for its 90th edition, slated to take place in early March. As one of Europe’s premier motor shows, GIMS is where some of the leading automakers unveil their most important cars for the year. The Haute Minute

The Geneva International Motor Show is gearing up for its 90th edition, slated to take place in early March. As one of Europe’s premier motor shows, GIMS is where some of the leading automakers unveil their most important cars for the year. While various car manufacturers are bowing out of this year’s edition due to COVID-19 concerns, many are forging ahead as planned. As we wait for the show to kick-off, let’s have a look at a few watch and car collabs and the models they’ve produced.

Hublot Ferrari GT

Hublot x Ferrari

Taking off in 2011, the partnership between Hublot and Ferrari remains as one of the strongest to bridge the watch and car worlds. Hublot has made Big Bang Ferrari, the MP-05 LaFerrari and the Techframe Ferrari collections. But what really sets the relationship between the Swiss luxury watchmaker and Italian luxury sports carmaker apart from other watch and car collabs, is that Ferrari designers have lent their expertise in developing some of the Hublot x Ferrari pieces. Take the Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT line, for instance, launched in 2019; the “Centro Stile Ferrari” designed the sleek and aerodynamic body of the watches (45mm, available in titanium, King Gold, and 3D carbon) and Hublot worked on the engine, aka the automatic UNICO HUB1280 caliber.

Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Land Rover

Zenith x Land Rover

Zenith and Land Rover joined forces back in 2016 and have since given the world four different co-branded watch models. While the first three were Range Rover edition Zenith watches, the latest to join the lineup is one in honor of the brand new 2020 Land Rover Defender. Unveiled just this year at LVMH Dubai Watch Week 2020 and limited to just 250 pieces, the Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Land Rover features a 44mm micro-blasted titanium case, a slate gray dial, and a special Defender gray rubber strap. Powering the fresh Zenith x Land Rover watch is the El Primero 9004 automatic movement, which famously boasts a central chronograph hand that makes one turn each second.

Excalibur Huracán Performante

Roger Dubuis x Lamborghini Squadra Corse

Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse inaugurated their partnership with the introduction of the Excalibur Aventador S in 2017. Since then, other Roger Dubuis x Lamborghini Squadra Corse watches have been welcomed into the fleet, including the Excalibur Huracán range. One of the latest is the limited edition (88 pieces) Excalibur Huracán Performante, sporting a black DLC-coated 45mm titanium case fitted with an Alcantara strap with the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R pattern on the inside of the rubber inlay. The watch also debuted a new movement—the second born out of the partnership—Caliber RD630, with a 12° angle balance escapement and a central rotor that mimics the design of a rim.
