Rarely has a name for a watch been as appropriate as for the Bvlgari Diva’s Dream Minute Repeater, as this timepiece can only be categorized for what it name already tells us: a dream. This dream is pretty much a fairy tale as it describes the marriage of a beautiful case, and a stunning dial, with one of the Haute Horlogerie’s finest, and thinnest, minute repeater movements in the world: the manufacture caliber BVL 362 which we can also find in the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater.

While this is the thinnest minute repeater movement in the world, it wasn’t Bvlgari’s goal to create the thinnest minute repeater watch for ladies. Instead, they decided to let beauty take the lead and combine this technically advanced movement with an elegant case and dial. The thinness of the movement gave Bvlgari’s designers a wide range of possibilities to achieve this, and they did so by fully focussing on creating elegance.
With a diameter of 37mm, the Diva’s Dream Minute Repeater has quite a wrist presence without becoming too large. Although set with 4.83 carats of brilliant cut, colorless diamonds, it is the dial that draws your attention. Its black lacquer is created using the artisanal Japanese Urushi technique, in which gold dust is sprinkled. The result is a deep black dial, with the vibrancy of the gold, which matches the case. As the dial is made completely by hand, each one of the five that Bvlgari makes will be unique. The Minute repeater seems to be absent, yet the gold and diamond set Diva’s Dream symbol hanging on the left side of the case are in fact connected to the slider that will activate the repeating mechanism.
It is the combination of the rare dial, elegant case with a diamond setting, and that hidden, yet exquisite, complication that makes this Bvlgari indeed a dream watch, and allows it to more than live up to its name!
