Luxury watchmaker Zenith teamed up with recording artist and producer, Swizz Beats to throw a memorable launch party for its new Defy collection.

Held at the historic Angle Orensanz Center in New York City, the event saw the official unveiling of the groundbreaking Defy El Primero 21 and the Defy Lab. The two watches made waves in haute horlogerie earlier this year, and now their innovative performance and astounding craftsmanship were revealed to the guests, who got the chance to tinker with a Zenith movement.

While the prominent attendees (including Alicia Keys and Fabulous) celebrated the two timepieces, an all-new Defy watch ticked the pinnacle of the evening when it was delivered by a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone above the crowd. The novel watch – Defy El Primero 21 Swizz Beatz Edition Unique – features a vibrant orange strap, a gleaming white dial, a 44mm white-gold case, set with 288 round diamonds, and a bezel with 44 baguette-cut diamonds.

Both the strap and the bezel carry an inspiration quote by Swizz Beats: “Never let people tell you what you can’t do, because sky’s not the limit, it’s just the view.”

“Zenith is the brand of confidence. It’s also the brand that has mastered the art of time and quality,” said Swizz Beats.” Zenith is the brand of the future and I’m happy to be a part of it with Mr. Biver and Julien [Tornare].”

The one-of-a-kind watch was raffled off with proceeds going to the Gathering for Justice, a non-profit organization founded in 2005 by Harry Belafonte to fight child incarceration and the racial inequalities in the justice system.

“I am thrilled and really glad to share this event with our great friend Swizz to benefit the Gathering for Justice,” said Julien Tornare, CEO of Zenith. “Zenith is experiencing a fantastic year of success and sharing it is part of our values.”

For those who did not get to own the statement watch, a slightly modified version – the Defy El Primero 21 Swizz Beatz Edition – was released in only five pieces.
