Last week, Swiss watchmaker Longines presented the first set of Dubai World Cup Carnival races at the Meydan Racecourse.

Last week, Swiss watchmaker Longines presented the first set of Dubai World Cup Carnival races at the Meydan Racecourse. The event kicked off the Dubai World Cup Carnival, which signals the countdown to the Dubai World Cup, which will be held on March 26. Longines is the Official Timekeeper and pillar partner of Meydan.

The festivities kicked off with the evening’s first purebred Arabian race, the Group 1 Al Maktoum Challenge over the mile. That race was later followed in the card by the equivalent Group 2 race for Thoroughbreds. Each of the three-rounds of the Al Maktoum Challenge may be used as preparation races for the Dubai Kahayla Classic for Purebred Arabians and the Dubai World Cup for Thoroughbreds.

“We are pleased to be the Official Timekeeper of the important races taking place at this extraordinary facility,” said Mr. Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing. “This partnership is part of the long-term commitment we have with Meydan as Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. Longines’ history with equestrian sports dates back to 1878. We are therefore very pleased to share this passion with Meydan as well as our core values: Elegance, Performance and Tradition.”

The official watch of the evening was the Longines DolceVita, a popular piece from the haute horlogerie brand that epitomizes the spirt of living the Italian sweet life. In its newest interpretation of the DolceVita, Longines is reintroducing the piece by subtly combining soft, sumptuous curves with pieces geometric lines for a more feminine aesthetic.
