Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 2015 Filmmaker In Residence Wins BFI London Best Film Prize

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 2015 Filmmaker in Residence, Athina Rachel Tsangari won the Best Film prize at the 59th BFI London Film Festival. Jury president Pawel Pawlikowski, director of the Oscar-winning film Ida, described the winning movie Chevalier as a “study of male antagonism seen through the eyes of a brave and original filmmaker.” He saluted the fact that, “with great formal rigor and irresistible wit, Athena Rachel Tsangari has managed to make a film that is both a hilarious comedy and a deeply disturbing statement on the condition of Western humanity”.

Writer and director Athina Rachel Tsangari was honored by the Jaeger-Le Coultre and the Film Society of Lincoln Center during the 53rd New York Film Festival. During her tenyor as Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Filmmaker in Residence, Tsangari worked on a screwball action-thriller called White Knuckles that centers around two criminal sisters dealing with “VAT fraud, amour fou, architectural infiltration, and electrically amplified fistfighting”.

Jaeger Le-Coultre started the Filmmaker in Residence program in 2013 as an annual initiative designed to support supremely talented filmmakers at an early stage in the creative process against the backdrop of the New York City and the New York Film Festival.
