The Short Answer

The Harrods Fine Watch Room will be busy this month, with three unmissable exhibitions. Find out what's in store, with Roanne Orlebar!

Montblanc Exo Tourbillon

Montblanc Heritage Chronomètrie ExoTourbillon

The Montblanc exhibition featuring the Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Collection will be popping up in the Fine Watch Room from 25th September – 28th October 2015. The ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph, a grand complication with a patented movement developed in-house at Montblanc’s manufacture in Switzerland, will be available exclusively at Harrods for a month. It combines two of the most important chronometric complications: a chronograph to measure the duration of brief intervals and a tourbillon construction for absolute precision.

Roanne’s Verdict: “The Heritage Chronométrie Collection was inspired by the voyage of Vasco da Gama who unified the Northern and Southern hemispheres, travelling from Europe, around the coast of Africa onto India. The Collection beautifully illustrates Montblanc’s desire to share the passion for fine watchmaking, uniting the fundamental virtues of horlogerie with precise timekeeping – chronométrie meaning precision in French. These virtues are reflected throughout the collection from the elegant Ultra Slim, with a height of only 5.8mm, to the Quantième Complet, a full calendar mechanism. Each timepiece undergoes an intensive 500 hour laboratory test and as a finishing touch, each piece is adorned with an alligator-leather strap expertly crafted at the Montblanc Pelletteria in Florence, Italy. The Montblanc Exo Tourbillon is a very special piece being a minute tourbillon and at a great price for this complication.”

Roland Iten Gun Pendant

Roland Iten Gun Harrods

Innovative mens’ accessories brand Roland Iten, famed for their exquisitely crafted mechanical accessories, will be popping up in Harrods’ Fine Watch Room during October. On display will be the brand’s iconic mechanically adjusting cufflinks, belt buckles, card-holders and rings – all of which have been created from the finest materials with an emphasis on exceptional craftsmanship and original design.

Roanne’s Verdict: “The highlight of the exhibition will be the Gun Pendant: the R007 Gun Pendant has been crafted in solid White Gold & features a rare 1.9 carat natural light brown gun shaped diamond. This is an incredibly novel use of an unusually cut diamond by innovative mens’ accessories designer Roland Iten.”
