A. Lange & Söhne is turning 200 years old this year, and to celebrate the exceptional milestone, the German watch brand has unveiled three new Saxonia watches at SIHH 2015.
Known for its understated watches, A. Lange & Söhne has made only very subtle changes to the Saxonia line which has thrilled fans since it was introduced 20 years ago.
The brand said the changes were made to increase the legibility of the new-look Saxonia, Saxonia Automatic, and Saxonia Dual Time, but you’ll have to look very closely to spot the changes.
Hour indices are now closer to the periphery of the dial, double-baton indices have also been added at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, and numerals are now used for the tens markers for the Saxonia Automatic and Saxonia Dual Time — numerals are now used for the tens markers.
Two of the new Saxonia models – the manual-winding Saxonia, and the Saxonia Dual Time now also come in slightly smaller cases – 35 mm and 38.5 mm respectively.
Being able to design a cleaner dial, while reducing the size of the canvas is one hard act; but A. Lange & Söhne shows that experience really does make a difference in the watch industry.
Each of the watches is available in both a white gold and rose gold case.
