The Short Answer

Haute Auto brings us the hottest car of the week. Today we’re taking a look at the Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean-Pierre Wimille” by Bugatti...

At the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach, auto lovers got up close and personal with Bugatti’s—both new and old. Bugatti debuted not only the first of its six upcoming exclusive Bugatti Legends but showed it also alongside another legend, the Bugatti Type 57G Tank.

This was a special showing honoring the world premiere of the Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean-Pierre Wimille” and was placed alongside the authentic 1937 winning Le Mans racing car, thanks to the renowned Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia.

With this new car collection, Bugatti aims to honor its former factory race driver, who took home the brand’s first victory in the 1937 ‪LeMans‬ 24-hour race and repeated win two years later.

The ‪‎Legend‬ vehicle is based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse and its design pays tribute to Wimille’s racing car in 1937, the ‪‎Bugatti‬ Type 57G Tank.

What we love about this new car is the gorgeous and unique color— and the dual-tone color scheme doesn’t just stop at the exterior. The interior is also very detail oriented with the headliner, footwells, and seat inserts upholstered in “Bleu Wimille” with the dark blue seat bolsters offering a sense of contour. This dark blue, known as “Lake Blue” is carried through in the dash panel, centre console and doors and creates a color dialogue in the vehicle’s interior.
