The Gold Popeye Yachtmaster is the latest addition to the Bamford Watch Department’s famous Army vs Navy series from 2012. The timepiece begins with an 18K yellow gold Yachtmaster, only the dial features Popeye the Sailor Man, the cartoon who starred in the eponymous comic strips and animated cartoon. According to the manufacture, this piece is the first without the signature black MGT (military grade titanium) coating for which the Bamford Watch Department is known.
George Bamford, the founder of the BWD, told us, “All gold is such a complete departure for us, but we had such a great response to our signature black PVD Army vs Navy series that DRx and I felt that the gold Yachtmaster was the next step.”
Only ten pieces of the BWD x DRx SE Gold Popeye Yachtmaster will be created, with the price available upon request.
Romanelli also added, “I am really looking forward to the release of this follow-up to the Army vs Navy Popeye Yachtmaster. I’m super keen on this gold version of the watch and think it’s an incredible addition to my collaboration with BWD”.
