Milan watch events rarely line up this neatly. On Friday, October 2, Patek Philippe’s Watch Art Grand Exhibition opened at the CityOval in the CityLife district, where it stays through Sunday, October 18. The same morning, Milano Watch Week opened across town inside Palazzo Mezzanotte, the former home of the Italian stock exchange, for a three-day run that ends Sunday, October 4. For one weekend, both are open at once, and neither charges a cent for admission.

The Haute Minute

Patek Philippe’s Watch Art Grand Exhibition runs through October 18 at Milan’s CityOval, free with registration. Milano Watch Week runs October 2–4 at Palazzo Mezzanotte with 55 brands, also free with registration, though its online general admission was listed as sold out on Friday.

The two could hardly be more different. One is a single family-owned Geneva manufacture telling its own story through some 500 timepieces and objects. The other gathers 55 brands, from independents to established maisons, in a format built around meeting the people who make the watches. Seeing both in a weekend is entirely doable, with one caveat: registration.

Both events ask visitors to sign up in advance. As of Friday morning, the free general admission passes on Milano Watch Week’s official ticketing page were marked sold out for all three days. Patek Philippe’s exhibition, with 17 days to spread the crowds and no limit on reservations, is the easier ticket.

Watch Art at the CityOval

Patek Philippe describes Milan as the largest exhibition it has ever organized: some 500 timepieces and objects across 15 themed areas, in rooms that recreate the Manufacture’s three Geneva landmarks: the Rue du Rhône headquarters, the Plan-les-Ouates manufacture, and the Patek Philippe Museum. The Historic Building room presents the entire current collection, the Rare Handcrafts room shows 27 pieces created for the exhibition, and a Super Complications room gathers the Caliber 89, the Grandmaster Chime Ref. 5175, and the Star Caliber 2000.

The exhibition site lists no talks program; the live element here is the demonstrations. Artisans work in front of visitors in the Rare Handcrafts room, watchmakers demonstrate in a dedicated Watchmakers room, and master watchmakers show a range of chiming movements in the “Master of Sound” room.

The weekend hours are generous. The CityOval, the former Palazzo delle Scintille at Piazza Sei Febbraio, is open 10 AM to 10 PM Friday through Sunday and 10 AM to 7 PM Monday through Thursday, closing at 8 PM on the final day, October 18. Last entry is one hour before closing. Admission is free with registration at watchart2026.patek.com, and while on-site registration is offered, Patek Philippe recommends booking ahead to avoid queues. The nearest metro stops are Tre Torri and Domodossola on the lilac M5 line, and the S5 suburban line also serves the area. Milano Watch Week at Palazzo Mezzanotte

Launched in 2024, Milano Watch Week has moved for 2026 to Palazzo Mezzanotte on Piazza degli Affari, where Maurizio Cattelan’s L.O.V.E. sculpture stands out front. This edition folds in After Time, the organizer’s format for more accessible watches, so the building holds two shows in one. The main exhibition brings 41 brands, among them returning independents such as Andersen Genève, Czapek, De Bethune, Ferdinand Berthoud, Greubel Forsey, MB&F, Ressence, and URWERK, alongside newcomers including Armin Strom, Bell & Ross, Daniel Roth, Gérald Genta, Girard-Perregaux, Grand Seiko, Laurent Ferrier, Ulysse Nardin, and Zenith.

After Time’s 14 brands include Atelier Wen, DOXA, Furlan Marri, Louis Erard, Oris, Raymond Weil, Seiko, and Squale, with Favre Leuba and ZRC 1904 joining for the first time. The organizers have promised collaborations and experiences drawn from Milan’s culture of craftsmanship, tailoring, and design, though no schedule of talks had been published on the official site as of Friday morning.

Milano Watch Week is open 10 AM to 7 PM Friday through Sunday. Entry is free, but registration is mandatory and gives a day pass for the chosen date. Nothing is sold on site; visitors who fall for a watch are directed to boutiques and retail partners across Milan. There is no dress code.

Between Piazza Affari and CityLife, Milan this weekend makes a persuasive case that the best watch shows are the ones anyone can walk into, as long as they registered first.
