Much like the agave plant, which can take anywhere between 10 and 30 years to flower, Parmigiani Fleurier’s reborn Tonda PF did not arrive overnight. When CEO Guido Terreni unveiled the overhauled collection in 2021, it marked a long-anticipated watershed moment—not just for the brand, but for contemporary Swiss watchmaking at large.

Introduced to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original Tonda created by founder Michel Parmigiani, the reimagined Tonda PF has since been widely regarded as one of this generation’s most convincing revivals. Its reception among collectors was immediate and enthusiastic, drawn to a design language that managed to feel both radical and deeply respectful of classical codes.

Defined by the maison’s signature Grain d’Orge guilloché—extending across the dial and echoed on the micro-rotor—the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Micro-Rotor now returns in a new shade: Agave Blue, which is a very different hue from the Stone Blue variant introduced in October 2025.

Intricate and Eye-Catching

Over the past few years, Parmigiani Fleurier has built a reputation for its assured use of color. The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor has appeared in richly nuanced tones such as Warm Grey, Stone Blue, Natural Platinum and Golden Siena, alongside a special Pacific Blue edition created for Sincere Haute Horlogerie. Other Tonda PF complications have ventured even further into chromatic territory. With Agave Blue, the brand introduces a hue inspired by the plant from which mezcal is distilled.

The 40mm Tonda PF Micro-Rotor Agave Blue is offered in either stainless steel or rose gold. This joins a wider family that has already explored steel, platinum, rose gold, and two-tone executions across both cases and integrated bracelets.

What Parmigiani Fleurier consistently does well is allow color to act as an invitation rather than a distraction. The deep, layered dial draws the eye towards the watch’s finer details: openworked delta-shaped hands matched to the case, hand-applied 18-carat rose gold or rhodium-plated appliques, and the finely knurled bezel rendered in rose gold or 950 platinum.

The Fleurier Flourish

The star of the show, of course, is the micro-rotor itself. Crafted in 950 platinum for the steel model and rose gold for the rose gold version, it is engine-turned by hand with the same Grain d’Orge guilloché that has come to define the Tonda PF’s identity. Beyond its visual appeal, the rotor winds the in-house PF703 caliber, which offers a 48-hour power reserve.

The rose gold model is priced at USD 69,800, while the stainless steel version comes in at USD 28,600.

With marques such as Bovet, Chopard and Vaucher also rooted in Fleurier, the region has become synonymous with high complications and meticulous decorative techniques. In that context, the Agave Blue Tonda PF Micro-Rotor feels less like a seasonal flourish and more like a confident continuation of a language Parmigiani Fleurier has patiently, and persuasively, made its own.
