Black watches and titanium watches are both very popular choices for young collectors. So when you combine both, as Greubel Forsey have just done, you know you’ve got a winner.

Especially when you consider the existence of a previous black piece from Greubel Forsey. Indeed, the new GMT Black mixes features from the brand’s GMT – launched in 2011- and its one-off, unique black piece made for Marcus Watches.

The new piece houses is just as complicated as the last. It once again features the GF05 movement with 24 second tourbillon inclined at a 25 degree angle, GMT function, three-dimensional globe for day/night indication, rotating disc with 24 different time zones at the back – with daylight savings indication – and 72 hour power reserve.

Aesthetically, both watches share much in common, down to the red indications. However, the weight of the materials will mean the new Greubel Forsey GMT – in titanium with vacuum deposited ADL instead of platinum – feels much lighter on the wrist.

It’s always stood out, but the eye-catching globe, which took more than 18 months to develop, is still a sight to behold giving the wearer Neil Armstrong’s view point of our planet. The watch is hand-finished at the highest level, and justifies the incredible price-tag of this watch.

The new GMT Black will be made available for US $565,000 in a limited run of 22 pieces, which shows the brand’s ability – and willingness – to manufacture in larger numbers.
