In Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot, the feline Black Jaguar – White Tiger foundation has spotted an eager aide. Even if luxury and sustainability have not always mixed well, the two partners are today embarking on a journey to better the world.

Committed to the same philosophy of fervor and care for nature, Hublot and Black Jaguar – White Tiger (BJWT) are now commencing a concerted mission – the preservation of iconic, mostly big-cat, wildlife. The first roar sounded on October 18, when Hublot’s CEO Ricardo Guadalupe and parent company, LVMH’s Watch Division President Jean-Cluade Biver joined BJWT’s CEO Eduardo Serio in unveiling a new feline sanctuary in Mexico. It is one of the 50 BJWT habitats that currently accommodate some 350 dwellers from various species.

“There is no living being who does not deserve respect, from now on, you will be able to wear in your wrist, the living proof of the alliance and preservation message, with a Hublot style,” said Mr Biver in a press statement.

Aimed to assist BJWT in its temporary shelter and eventual reintroduction to the wild of hundreds of animals, the collaboration spawned to three special, feline-inspired editions of Hublot timepieces. Two collections – rendered in steel or ceramic – are limited to 100 watches, each, while a gold line numbers 50 pieces. Together, the horological creations – embossed with a tiger-head design and attached to an inky tiger fur-patterned strap – attest not only to Hublot’s aesthetics of art fusion. They also bear the Maison’s vison of being “first, unique and different” in embracing the sensitivities of its philanthropic allies.

“We talked about this project for the past months and I had the chance to work hand in hand with Hublot in the whole designing process,” said Mr Serio. “It is very special for me to finally see the finished timepieces and to have the honor of sharing this special day with the brand and the Hublot family.”

With the partnership intended as a long-term, multi-project cooperation, Hublot’s and BJWT’s bellow for a stronger, richer planet is to resonate for years to come.
