The Miami Grand Prix is the first of three American stops in the Formula 1 calendar race year. For the second consecutive year, the Sunshine State will host the most exciting sports and automotive event in the world.

“Formula 1 is the best form of motor racing in the world,” said Jensen Button, 2009 FIA Formula 1 Drivers’ World Champion and Rolex Testimony. “It has the best drivers, fantastic races and the most advanced technologies. As a racing driver, I love Rolex’s deep-rooted connection to motor sport, a relationship which has stood the test of time.”

Miami is this season’s fifth Formula 1 Grand Prix, following Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Azerbaijan. The 57-lap race at the Miami International Autodrome will get underway on Sunday, May 7 at 3.30 p.m. local time. Around a quarter of a million spectators are set to descend on the circuit across the three-day spectacle. They will welcome home Florida-born Logan Sargeant as he becomes the first American driver on the grid in almost eight years. Promising to provide even closer wheel-to-wheel action, the 3.36 mile (5.412 km) track has been resurfaced, improving grip and overtaking opportunities.

“I really enjoyed the first ever race in Miami last year, especially the atmosphere,” Button added. “It’s one of those races that everyone wants to attend, including sports stars from around the world, as it’s glamorous and has so much going on – there’s a real buzz. It will be one of the great venues for many years to come. I love that Formula 1 has grown so much in America, with three races on the calendar and a large following.”

“Last year’s race in Miami was a huge success,” said Sir Jackie Stewart, three-time FIA Formula 1 Drivers’ World Champion and Rolex Testimony for 55 years. “There is now more enthusiasm for the sport than ever before. Few sports have ever been blessed with long-term relationships such as that of Rolex and motor racing. Leaders in their respective fields, Rolex and Formula 1 share levels of excellence that are incredibly rare, making it a perfect partnership.”
